La hija del maestro de la plástica guatemalteca Roberto Ossaye crea una fundación para honrar la memoria de su padre y promover las artes en RD.
María del Carmen Ossaye nació en Guatemala y se instaló con apenas 18 años en República Dominicana. Aquí es conocida como gestora cultural, editora de la desaparecida revista Artes, fundadora de la galería Umbrales del Arte y como la hija del maestro de la plástica guatemalteca Roberto Ossaye (1927-1954).
En estos días, es noticia porque Umbrales, la galería que dirigió por 15 años, cambia de nombre y de objetivos y se transforma en Ossaye Casa de Arte (OCA).
¿El nuevo propósito? “Honrar la memoria del gran artista y el gran ser humano que fue mi padre y promover las artes plásticas en la sociedad dominicana”, dice María del Carmen a LISTÍN DIARIO.
Pintor y grabador, Roberto Ossaye murió a los 27 años y de su vida personal se conoce poco.
“Creo que por haber hecho una carrera corta su trabajo no ha recibido la difusión que merece, pero su producción fue tan prolífica que los críticos se preguntan hasta dónde pudo haber llegado si no hubiera fallecido a tan temprana edad, pues su obra es supermadura y produjo como si hubiera vivido 80 años”, sostiene María del Carmen.
La presentación oficial de la fundación y de su junta directiva tendrá lugar el próximo jueves 14 de mayo a las 7:00 de la noche en el local de OCA, en la calle José Joaquín Pérez número 1, en Gascue.
Será, comparte María del Carmen, una fundación “que aportará al arte, la cultura y a la educación del país con programas y actividades que brinden apoyo tanto a los artistas locales e internacionales como a nuestra sociedad, con ayudas a instituciones sin fines de lucro”. La primera propuesta de OCA es un portafolio con tres reproducciones de Roberto Ossaye cuyos fondos serán donados al Instituto de Ayuda al Sordo Santa Rosa, que dirige María Jesús Pérez de Mansfield.
“Es una serie limitada de dibujos con un estilo moderno impresionista. Los fondos recaudados serán utilizados para un proyecto educativo que consiste en ofertar talleres de pintura artística, diseño gráfico y temas relacionados a las artes plásticas a estudiantes seleccionados del instituto”.
Las obras son reproducciones impresas en gicleé de los estudios que Roberto hacía primero en papel y luego plasmaba en el lienzo. Las impresiones vienen acompañadas con un certificado de autenticidad y la impresión en gicleé garantiza alrededor de 75 años de permanencia del color. También el jueves, los espacios de OCA estarán ambientados con las obras de Ángel Ricardo Rivera y dos esculturas de Juan Trinidad.
LA FUNDACIÓN OSSAYE CASA DE ARTE, (OCA) No estará abierta al público de manera permanente y la galería abrirá por citas.
El artista visual Ángel Ricardo Rivera, subdirector de la fundación, comenta que las actividades serán puntuales, rigurosamente trabajadas y enfocadas en la promoción del arte contemporáneo.
“Hay artistas jóvenes con propuestas visuales que no necesariamente son pintura o fotografía clásica, sino que rompen el espacio y pasan a lo conceptual. La contemporaneidad del arte es interesante, porque es lo que está ocurriendo en estos momentos”, expresa Rivera.
La sociedad, el medio ambiente y la educación serán tomados en cuenta en el espacio. Lo novedoso del proyecto, agrega María del Carmen, es que constantemente tendremos eventos aquí de interés para el público y para los artistas: tertulias, proyecciones de películas de arte, exhibiciones y talleres. También harán proyectos editoriales de arte.
