El Ministerio de Cultura anunció la exposición de pinturas y dibujos “Configuración sígnica”, del destacado artista Juan Mayí, la cual estará abierta al público desde el 27 de septiembre en la Capilla de los Remedios, en la calle Las Damas de la Ciudad Colonial de Santo Domingo. Mayí es reconocido como uno de los artistas plásticos dominicanos más influyentes de la generación de los años 80. Ganador del Gran Premio de la XXIV Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales 2007. El destacado artista nació en San Pedro de Macorís, en 1963 y es egresado de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, 1978. Juan Mayí se nutre de la información que ha servido de base para los principios de la identidad de su país, para estudiar y darle un valor nuevo y propio en su obra pictórica. En el año 1990, viajó a París, invitado por el profesor Antonio Seguí a su taller de estudiantes, de la Escuela Nacional Superior de Las Bellas Artes de París. Mayí recibió las orientaciones del maestro durante un año, y participó en varias exposiciones colectivas y bienales en Francia y en República Dominicana.
