La galería de arte District & Co., dejó inaugurada la exposición “Mística & Realidad”, de los aristas Aquiles Azar Billini y Félix Bonilla Gerena, dos consagrados y exitosos representantes del arte contemporáneo de la República Dominicana y Puerto Rico, durante un ameno encuentro, en el Showroom de Autozama, ubicado en la avenida Winston Churchill número 235, Ensanche Paraíso.
Faracci Amaro, directora de la galería de arte, al pronunciar las palabras de bienvenida, manifestó que la exposición “Mística & Realidad” está conformada por unas 20 obras entre pinturas sobre tela y técnicas mixtas sobre papel de la más reciente producción de ambos artistas contemporáneos.
A seguidas, el crítico de arte y curador jefe del Museo de Arte Moderno, Amable López Meléndez, aseguró que en la pintura de Bonilla Gerena, el cuerpo opera como metáfora totalizadora de un ideal cultural, de un símbolo ‘natural’ controvertido y clave para las diversas y distintas lecturas que admite la poshumanidad.
“Se trata de unos espacios pictóricos en los que confrontamos un grado notable de sutileza plástica. Espacios lúdicos, llameantes y reactivos como celebraciones del misterio de la luz, el instante, la existencia, el amor, la cotidianidad y la imaginación”, explicó.
Mientras que en la producción pictórica global de Azar Billini, sostuvo que se destacan trabajos mayores que seducen la mirada del espectador por su energética policromía y la profusa plasticidad de sus superficies. Se trata de obras de una carga sugestiva y una capacidad de resistencia critica admirables.
“En estas obras, Azar Billini reafirma su distintiva capacidad de renovar su propio universo simbólico; sus propios métodos y técnicas de trabajo; sus propios códigos y registros plásticos, matéricos e imagéticos”, puntualizó.
La muestra estará abierta al público hasta el 15 de enero en el Showroom de Autozama, representante general de Mercedes-Benz para la República Dominicana.
BIOGRAFIAS
Félix Bonilla Gerena, nace en Utuado, Puerto Rico. Obtiene su BA en el 1992, en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas del Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña. Ha viajado intensamente por Estados Unidos, México y Venezuela, estudiando los movimientos y tendencias del arte contemporáneo.
Ha realizado numerosas exposiciones individuales en Puerto Rico y los Estados Unidos. En el 2004, expone individualmente en el Museo de Arte de Caguas, Puerto Rico; en el Museo de las Casas Reales y el Museo de Arte Moderno de Santo Domingo.
En el 2008, Bonilla Gerena expone de manera individual en Trípoli Gallery of Contemporary Art, Southampton, New York, y desde entonces su obra es representada en Estados Unidos por ellos.
Sus obras están en colecciones privadas de Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos, España, Venezuela, Guadalupe y Nueva Zelanda, así como en el Museo de Arte de Caguas; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico; Museo de las Casas Reales y Museo de Arte Moderno de Santo Domingo.
Aquiles Azar Billini, nace en Santo Domingo. Estudió Arquitectura en la Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) y en la Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). Egresado Cum Laude de la Escuela de Diseño Altos de Chavón.
Ha sido profesor de Artes Liberales, Publicidad y Diseño de Interiores en la Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) y en la Escuela de Diseño de Altos de Chavón.
Entre sus reconocimientos, destacan: Primer Premio de Dibujo XIII Concurso de Arte Eduardo León Jimenes (1990); Primer Premio de Pintura y Premio Especial de Dibujo XlX Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales (1994) y Premio Único de Fotografía XXIII Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales (2005).
Ha participado en múltiples exposiciones colectivas e individuales en importantes galerías y museos de la República Dominicana, Latinoamérica, Estados Unidos y Europa. Asimismo sus obras han pasado a formar parte de destacadas colecciones privadas a nivel nacional e internacional.
