Las respuestas a esta pregunta tan ambigua pudieran ser numerosas aquellas que se limitan al hecho físico o técnico; las otras que se refieren a cuestiones formales de carácter composicional; y finalmente aquellas otras que apuntan a las “actitudes culturales” en su percepción. Uso el término en la manera que lo hace Melinda Hinkson al referir que su uso de la noción de “actitud cultural” –en relación a la fotografía- está dirigido en el sentido antropológico de las comprensiones, emocione valores, orientaciones y formas de actuar compartidas en relación a las imágenes. Éstas, no sólo desde el punto de vista de un individuo, sino también desde la perspectiva de múltiples miembros de una comunidad. Es, precisamente en este sentido que entiendo se debe hablar sobre el peso y la levedad de las imágenes en la producción de Ángel Ricardo Rivera: en ese margen que se genera en el proceso de percepción. Mucho se pudiera revelar sobre las cuestiones de carácter técnico que dan origen a estas imágenes, pero me temo que nos distanciaría mucho del “peso” fundamental del conjunto, que reside en el maravilloso proceso de su consumo y percepción, que a su vez provoca un acercamiento emocional a su producción.

The answers to this ambiguous question could be numerous those that are limited to the physical or technical fact; the others that refer to formal questions of a compositional nature; and finally those others that point to "cultural attitudes" in their perception. I use the term in the way that Melinda Hinkson does when referring that her use of the notion of "cultural attitude" -in relation to photography- is directed in the anthropological sense of understandings, emotions, values, orientations and shared ways of acting in relation to the images. These, not only from the point of view of an individual, but also from the perspective of multiple members of a community. It is precisely in this sense that I understand that we should talk about the weight and lightness of the images in the production of Ángel Ricardo Rivera: in that margin that is generated in the perception process. Much could be revealed about the technical issues that give rise to these images, but I am afraid that we would be far from the fundamental "weight" of the whole, which resides in the wonderful process of its consumption and perception, which in turn provokes a emotional approach to its production.
