La Embajada de la República Dominicana ante el Reino de España y la Fundación Propagas presentarán la exposición y libro de La Era Plasteozoica del Colectivo de artistas visuales dominicanas Pictoria Newhouse, bajo la colaboración de la Administración de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF), en el jardín tropical de la Estación Puerta de Atocha, Madrid.
Ambas actividades se insertan dentro del programa oficial de la República Dominicana como país invitado de la 78ª Feria del Libro de Madrid, que se celebrará del 31 de mayo al 16 de junio de 2019, en el Parque de El Retiro.
La Feria del Libro de Madrid es uno de los acontecimientos culturales más anticipados e importantes que se celebran en España. Inaugurada por un pequeño grupo de libreros locales en 1933, hoy atrae a más de 2 millones de visitantes por año.
Las artistas visuales y arquitectas dominicanas, Guadalupe Casasnovas y Victoria Thomén, conforman el colectivo Pictoria Newhouse. Han presentado exitosamente su serie La Era Plasteozoica en Sao Pablo, Brasil; en Madrid, España; en Roma, Italia y en el Centro León de Santiago de los Caballeros, República Dominicana. La serie surgió como una inquietud del deterioro y desprotección que enfrenta el medio ambiente en todo el mundo.
El colectivo Pictoria Newhouse manifestó su agradecimiento al apoyo de sus patrocinadores como son la Embajada de República Dominicana ante el Reino de España, Fundación Propagas, Adif, SERCITEC, Gomadic, Emile De Boyrie, Luis Manuel González e hijos y William Harper y Asociados que confían decididamente en promover las artes visuales y además contribuir con mantener una constante protección del medio ambiente garantizando la vida para todas las especies y asegurar el bienestar de generaciones futuras. La muestra estará abierta al público desde el 22 de mayo hasta el 5 de junio.
La embajada de la República Dominicana ante el Reino de España, la Administración de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF) y la Fundación Propagas se unen a la celebración del día mundial de la diversidad biológica que se celebra cada año el 22 de Mayo. Las celebraciones de 2019 se centrarán en impulsar el conocimiento y concienciar sobre la estrecha dependencia que los sistemas de producción de alimentos, la nutrición y la salud tienen con la biodiversidad y los ecosistemas saludables.
Esta iniciativa forma parte de la línea de trabajo de Acción Social de Adif y persigue contribuir a alcanzar uno de los quince objetivos estratégicos de la entidad: favorecer la cohesión social. La estrategia global de Adif está orientada al desarrollo sostenible y basada en su responsabilidad corporativa como entidad de servicio público, lo cual incluye, entre otros aspectos, el apoyo a la cultura, los valores ciudadanos y los colectivos en riesgo de exclusión.
Para ello, Adif cuenta desde 2007 con el Programa Estación Abierta. Este proyecto pone a disposición de las organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro e instituciones públicas espacios en las estaciones para la realización de exposiciones, conciertos, campañas de difusión y sensibilización en valores y todo tipo de actividades.
El Libro de La Era Plasteozoica
El libro y la exposición de La Era Plasteozoica tiene un formato ecológico, tanto en su material de confección como en su contenido. Hemos creado un objeto de carácter artístico y maleable, con múltiples propósitos. Nuestra publicación busca crear una envoltura de información que aumente la experiencia del espectador y que pueda ser una obra de arte en sí mismo. El foto-libro cumple con estándares medioambientales y ecológicos. Contamos para ambos eventos con el apoyo de la Embajada de la República Dominicana ante el Reino de España y de la Fundación Propagas.
Algunas características que tiene nuestro proyecto expositivo y foto-libro son: Denuncia al deterioro y desprotección del medio ambiente; Ayuda a concientizar, educar y promover la preservación de nuestro medio ambiente; Primer libro ecológico expuesto en República Dominicana; Libro certificado por la Green Press Iniciative.
Creemos que La Era Plasteozoica es un proyecto que puede crear iniciativas, para el desarrollo humano integral y el desarrollo sostenible; un ejemplo que demuestra que podemos crear un libro con un impacto mínimo en nuestro medio ambiente. El foto-libro como objeto artístico permite llevar la obra de arte a la casa familiar o al despacho, a las escuelas; sacarlo de las galerías, para ser mostrado con otros propósitos, por ejemplo en lo educativo.
The Embassy of the Dominican Republic before the Kingdom of Spain and the Propagas Foundation will present the exhibition and book of the Plasteozoic Era of the Dominican Visual Artists Collective Pictoria Newhouse, under the collaboration of the Railway Infrastructure Administration (ADIF), in the tropical garden of the Puerta de Atocha Station, Madrid.
Both activities are included in the official program of the Dominican Republic as the guest country of the 78th Madrid Book Fair, which will be held from May 31 to June 16, 2019, in the El Retiro Park.
The Madrid Book Fair is one of the most anticipated and important cultural events held in Spain. Inaugurated by a small group of local booksellers in 1933, today it attracts more than 2 million visitors per year.
Dominican visual artists and architects, Guadalupe Casasnovas and Victoria Thomén, make up the Pictoria Newhouse collective. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 22 to June 5.
The Embassy of the Dominican Republic before the Kingdom of Spain, the Railway Infrastructure Administration (ADIF) and the Propagas Foundation join in the celebration of the World Day of Biological Diversity held every year on May 22. The celebrations of 2019 will focus on boosting knowledge and raising awareness of the close dependence of food production, nutrition and health systems on biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.
This initiative is part of Adif's Social Action line of work and aims to contribute to achieving one of the fifteen strategic objectives of the entity: to favor social cohesion. Adif's global strategy is aimed at sustainable development and based on its corporate responsibility as a public service entity, which includes, among other aspects, support for culture, citizen values and groups at risk of exclusion.
For this, Adif has had the Open Season Program since 2007. This project puts at the disposal of non-profit organizations and public institutions spaces in the stations for the realization of exhibitions, concerts, campaigns of diffusion and sensitization in values and all kinds of activities.
The Book of the Plasteozoic Era
The book and the exhibition of the Plasteozoic Era has an ecological format, both in its material of preparation and in its content. We have created an object of artistic and malleable character, with multiple purposes. Our publication seeks to create an information envelope that increases the viewer's experience and can be a work of art in itself. The photo-book complies with environmental and ecological standards. We count for both events with the support of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic before the Kingdom of Spain and the Propagas Foundation.
Some characteristics of our exhibition and photo-book project are: Reporting the deterioration and lack of protection of the environment; Helps to raise awareness, educate and promote the preservation of our environment; First ecological book exhibited in the Dominican Republic; Book certified by the Green Press Initiative.
We believe that La Era Plasteozoica is a project that can create initiatives for integral human development and sustainable development; an example that shows that we can create a book with minimal impact on our environment. The photo-book as an artistic object allows to take the work of art to the family home or to the office, to the schools; remove it from the galleries, to be shown for other purposes, for example in education.
