LA ROMANA. WAO Galería & Centro Cultural ubicada en Altos de Chavón, inaugurará el próximo 20 de agosto la exposición conjunta ”Armonía Espiritual” de los maestros del arte Naif José Morillo y Frantz Zéphirin. En esta muestra se unen dos culturas bajo un mismo espíritu. Los artistas transmiten al espectador la candidez y la ingenuidad; la espontaneidad y el autodidactismo, de estos dos exponentes del arte primitivo, los colores brillantes y antinaturalistas y una perspectiva sobrenatural.
El arte Naif es un estilo artístico de carácter popular y sencillo. Retrata temas cotidianos y la cultura popular de los lugares donde se produce, siendo creada por artistas autodidactas en su mayoría y considerada un arte popular, desvinculado del tecnicismo artístico.
La muestra consta de 30 obras, con la que estos artistas rinden homenaje a su cultura, mostrando en ella momentos de su vida cotidiana y festividades en la que participan, con una increíble simplicidad de los elementos, colores vivos, cálidos y saturados, pero combinados en forma armoniosa. Conjugando elementos visuales, técnicas del Arte Naif en la que revelan sentimientos, inocencia y pureza en sus creaciones.
La crítica de arte Marianne de Tolentino dice sobre la obra de Murillo “ El famoso pintor haitiano, Prefete Duffaut, afirmaba que no es pintura naif, que se trata de un privilegio, de un don especial, José Morillo ha recibido ese don especial que él cultiva con inteligencia, creatividad y estilo propio”. Por su parte Zéphirin ha aparecido en artículos del New York Times, Le Monde, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Times of London, The Guardian y la BBC. Su arte ha sido expuesto en la exhibición Haiti Art Naif: Memories of Paradise en el centro de arte Denkmalschmiede Hofgen en Alemania.
La exposición permanecerá abierta desde el 20 de Agosto hasta el 20 de septiembre en horarios Lunes y Martes de 9:00am a 5:00pm y de Miércoles a Sábado de 9:00am a 9:00pm.

THE ROMAN. WAO Gallery & Cultural Center located in Altos de Chavón, will inaugurate on August 20 the joint exhibition "Spiritual Harmony" by Naif art masters José Morillo and Frantz Zéphirin. In this exhibition two cultures come together under the same spirit. The artists convey to the viewer the candor and ingenuity; the spontaneity and autodidacticism of these two exponents of primitive art, the bright and unnatural colors and a supernatural perspective.
Naif art is an artistic style of popular and simple character. It portrays everyday themes and the popular culture of the places where it is produced, being mostly created by self-taught artists and considered a popular art, unrelated to artistic technicality.
The exhibition will consist of 30 works, with which these artists pay homage to their culture, showing in it moments of their daily life and festivities in which they participate, with an incredible simplicity of the elements, bright, warm and saturated colors, but combined in a harmonious way. Combining visual elements, Naive Art techniques in which they reveal feelings, innocence and purity in their creations.
The art critic Marianne de Tolentino says about Murillo's work "The famous Haitian painter, Prefete Duffaut, affirmed that it is not naive painting, that it is a privilege, a special gift, José Morillo has received that special gift that he he cultivates with intelligence, creativity and his own style”. For his part, Zéphirin has appeared in articles in the New York Times, Le Monde, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Times of London, The Guardian and the BBC. His art has been exhibited in the Haiti Art Naif: Memories of Paradise exhibition at the Denkmalschmiede Hofgen art center in Germany.
The exhibition will remain open from August 20 to September 20 on Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from Wednesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
