Compartimos con la comunidad artística y cultural dominicana algunas imágenes de la conferencia que dicté el pasado sábado cinco de mayo en el Museo Bellapart de Santo Domingo como parte de la TERTULIA SABATINA EN EL BELLAPART: UNA OBRA, UN ARTISTA, coordinada por la dinámica directora de la institución museística Mirna Guerrero, reconocida Historiadora de arte, crítica de arte y curadora.
El tema de la conferencia fue exponer y redescubrir los fundamentos estéticos y relaciones conectivas del afamado pintor guatemalteco Roberto Ossaye (Guatemala, 1927), sobre cuya trayectoria histórica pesa el manto de la leyenda y ventanas abiertas para nuevas páginas en las que se asienten renovadas investigaciones que repotencien su real dimensión artística en el Arte Latinoamericano.
El artista Roberto Ossaye, falleció en su natal Guatemala en 1954 a la muy temprana edad de 27 años, dejando sobre sí enigmáticas e inexploradas rutas de estudio y redescubrimiento de su arte, que según estudiosos y su propia hija María del Carmen Maria Del Carmen Ossaye, a pesar de las numerosas piezas registradas y documentadas, incluyendo los dos lotes que se conoce, conserva la División de Arte Latinoamericano del MoMA, aun son muchas las obras que se encuentran dispersas en colecciones privadas de Europa, Estados Unidos y América Latina.
NOTA IMPORTANTE!. Agradezco al coleccionista Don Fernando Báez Guerrero el haberme suministrado copia del documento oficial del MoMA CHECKLIST/No. 25, March 13, 1957, donde aparece una amplia relación de pinturas de afamados artistas norteamericanos y europeos junto a un selecto número de pintores latinoamericanos, entre los que figuran obras de los artistas guatemaltecos Roberto González Gory y Roberto Ossaye, este último con su pintura “Pitahaya”, Oil/canvas, 12 1/8 x 18 ¾”, 1953.
El tema elegido por el Museo Bellapart fue el pintor latinoamericano Roberto Ossaye, en correspondencia con la reciente edición de la Feria Internacional del Libro FILSD.2018, plataforma ferial dedicada este año a Guatemala como país invitado de honor.El Museo Bellapart Santo Domingo conserva como parte de su colección permanente varias pinturas originales del artista que los asistentes a la conferencia pudieron disfrutar plenamente.
Los ejes temáticos de la conferencia giraron en establecer con datos y fuentes de alta acreditación los vínculos intelectuales desde una visión racional, creativa, ideológica y crítica que tiene la obra de Roberto Ossaye con la corriente estética, literaria y cultural conocida como el Indigenismo Latinoamericano, fenómeno antropo-cultural ampliamente estudiado por pensadores latinoamericanos, destacándose las investigaciones, desde la modernidad y la contemporaneidad desarrolladas por el escritor, intelectual y poeta dominicano, establecido en México, Héctor Díaz Polanco.
Durante mi exposición pude establecer que si bien Roberto Ossaye, definido por especialistas guatemaltecos y por su propio compañero de estudios en la Art Students League of New York, el escultor Roberto González Gori, (compañero de viaje y estudios como becarios en Nueva York en 1948) como un artista genial, procuré enfatizar como justo reconocimiento a su sensibilidad, calidad de su pintura y rigor de visión, que no obstante su formación en estudios superiores de arte teniendo como laboratorio su residencia formativa los fondos del Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York MoMA, donde tuvo contacto y estudió a profundidad los grandes maestros de las corrientes modernistas y vanguardistas del siglo xx, incluyendo el pujante cubismo de entonces, cuyo estudio y conocimientos amplio en París durante su residencia en 1952, que los fundamentos más vitales de su obra están trazados y vinculados a la pintura, imaginario y realismo iconológico del Indigenismo Latinoamericano, plasmado simbólica y narratológicamente en los lenguajes del Muralismo mexicano y en las expresiones pictóricas del indigenismo ecuatoriano con referentes directos como los pintores Camilo Egas y Eduardo Kingman, comportamiento estético, ideológico, estilístico y conceptual evolucionado, redefinido y reafirmado excepcionalmente por el pintor Oswaldo Guayasamín, un referente universal del arte y pensamiento visual latinoamericano.
La conferencia contó con un numeroso público en la que su anfitriona Mirna Guerrero, directora del Museo, estuvo acompañada de la gestora cultural y galerista dominicana María del Carmen Ossaye, hija del artista Roberto Ossaye, quien naciera en la ciudad Nueva York como parte de la unión en matrimonio del pintor con la señora dominicana Georgia Tejeda.
Cerrada la conferencia, el público pudo disfrutar de un magnifico audiovisual producido por el artista Ángel Ricardo Rivera compañero de María del Carmen, en el que hace un recorrido visual y documental sobre la vida y obra de este emblemático pintor centroamericano, aun por descubrir.
Fue de gran satisfacción para mí contar con la presencia de importantes críticos de arte, artistas, coleccionistas y profesores de de arte de varias universidades.

We share with the Dominican artistic and cultural community some images of the conference that I gave last Saturday, May 5th at the Bellapart Museum in Santo Domingo as part of the SABATINA TERTULA IN THE BELLAPART: A WORK, AN ARTIST, coordinated by the dynamic director of the museum institution Mirna Guerrero, renowned art historian, art critic and curator.
The theme of the conference was to expose and rediscover the aesthetic foundations and connective relationships of the famed Guatemalan painter Roberto Ossaye (Guatemala, 1927), whose historical trajectory weighs the mantle of legend and open windows for new pages on which renewed research is based. that reinforce their real artistic dimension in Latin American Art.
The artist Roberto Ossaye, died in his native Guatemala in 1954 at the very early age of 27 years, leaving behind enigmatic and unexplored routes of study and rediscovery of his art, which according to scholars and his own daughter Maria del Carmen Maria Del Carmen Ossaye , in spite of the numerous pieces registered and documented, including the two lots that are known, the Latin American Art Division of MoMA still preserves, there are still many works that are scattered in private collections in Europe, the United States and Latin America.

The theme chosen by the Bellapart Museum was the Latin American painter Roberto Ossaye, in correspondence with the recent edition of the International Book Fair FILSD.2018, a trade fair platform dedicated this year to Guatemala as the guest of honor. The Museo Bellapart Santo Domingo preserves part of his permanent collection several original paintings of the artist that the conference attendees could fully enjoy.
The thematic axes of the conference turned to establish with data and sources of high accreditation the intellectual links from a rational, creative, ideological and critical view that Roberto Ossaye's work has with the aesthetic, literary and cultural current known as Latin American Indigenism, Anthropo-cultural phenomenon widely studied by Latin American thinkers, highlighting the research, from modernity and contemporaneity developed by the writer, intellectual and Dominican poet, established in Mexico, Hector Diaz Polanco.
During my presentation I was able to establish that although Roberto Ossaye, defined by Guatemalan specialists and by his own fellow student at the Art Students League of New York, the sculptor Roberto González Gori, (travel companion and studies as scholars in New York in 1948 ) as a brilliant artist, I tried to emphasize as a fair recognition of his sensitivity, quality of his painting and rigor of vision, that despite his training in higher art studies having as a laboratory his formative residency the funds of the Museum of Modern Art in New York MoMA, where he had contact and studied in depth the great masters of the modernist and avant-garde currents of the twentieth century, including the thriving cubism of the time, whose study and extensive knowledge in Paris during his residency in 1952, make the most vital foundations of his work are traced and linked to the painting, imaginary and iconological realism of Latin American Indigenism, embodied s imbólica and narratológicamente in the languages of the Mexican Muralism and in the pictorial expressions of the Ecuadorian indigenismo with direct referents as the painters Camilo Egas and Eduardo Kingman, aesthetic, ideological, stylistic and conceptual behavior evolved, redefined and reaffirmed exceptionally by the painter Oswaldo Guayasamín, a universal reference of art and Latin American visual thought.
The conference had a large audience in which his host Mirna Guerrero, director of the Museum, was accompanied by the cultural manager and Dominican gallerist Maria del Carmen Ossaye, daughter of the artist Roberto Ossaye, who was born in New York City as part of the union in marriage of the painter with the Dominican lady Georgia Tejeda.
When the conference closed, the audience was able to enjoy a magnificent audiovisual produced by the artist Ángel Ricardo Rivera, companion of María del Carmen, in which he made a visual and documentary tour of the life and work of this emblematic Central American painter, still to be discovered.
