En Madrid, el pasado 4 de marzo, la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, fue el escenario de la IX edición de los Premios Iberoamericanos de Mecenazgo, otorgados por la Fundación Callia, ceremonia presidida por su Majestad la Reina Doña Sofía. En esta ocasión, la Dra. María Amalia León, presidente de la Fundación Eduardo León Jimenes y del Centro León, recibió el Premio de Mecenazgo Latinoamericano, por promover la calidad de vida de los dominicanos a través de la educación, las artes y la cultura.
«Agradezco con sincera humildad este prestigioso reconocimiento, que recibo a nombre de nuestra familia, –la familia León– que durante más de un siglo continúa reafirmando su compromiso con los mejores valores de nuestra sociedad, recordando que nacimos con las manos sembradas en el cultivo de la tierra que nos dio origen y domicilio, el corazón latiendo unido al palpitar de nuestra gente entrañable, y la vista siempre puesta en lo Alto, apostando por una mejor nación, que es el lema de nuestra Fundación», expresó la Dra. León en su discurso.
Fueron galardonados también Antonio del Valle, con el premio de Mecenazgo Español, por sus aportes a la difusión del arte español en México, y el artista francés Daniel Buren, con el premio de Mecenazgo Internacional, por su contribución al arte en espacios públicos.
Carmen Reviriego, presidenta de la Fundación Callia, destacó que «El arte siempre da, nace, por definición, para el otro. Por eso el compromiso con el arte, tiene ese efecto sísmico de conexión frente a los retos de un mundo interdependiente. Este Siglo XXI tiene mucho de amenazador, por eso, frente a las sombras, más arte, más generosidad y más solidaridad».
La música y la danza también formaron parte del acto de premiación; Maridalia Hernández, acompañada de Luis Manuel Pimentel y Miguel Montás, interpretó una selección de canciones dominicanas. Por su parte, la bailarina Giada Rossi, primera figura de la Compañía Nacional de Danza en España, interpretó La muerte del cisne.
El programa de estos prestigiosos premios contó con encuentros previos, como charlas sobre arte y mecenazgo, con la participación de figuras como Philip Tinari, director del Centro de Arte Contemporáneo (UCCA) en Beijing, el curador y mecenas Simon de Pury, y la Dra. León. Además, se realizó una cena benéfica en el Real Casino de Madrid.
Los premiados fueron seleccionados por un panel de expertos en arte, cultura y mecenazgo, quienes evaluaron el impacto, la sostenibilidad y la originalidad de los proyectos respaldados por los nominados. Los galardonados de este año han demostrado un compromiso sobresaliente con la promoción de la cultura y las artes, sirviendo como modelos inspiradores para la comunidad.
Premios Iberoamericanos de Mecenazgo
Son una iniciativa social de Fundación Callia, presidida por la especialista en coleccionismo de arte Carmen Reviriego, que tienen como misión promover el mecenazgo y poner en valor la figura del mecenas. Cada año los galardonados al sumarse con generosidad a la iniciativa, ayudan a que los Premios inspiren con su ejemplo a que otros hombres y mujeres se impliquen con su misma convicción en la conservación, promoción y difusión del patrimonio y el talento artístico. Estos galardones quieren ser también un lugar de encuentro para Sociedad, Empresa e Instituciones.
En sus nueve ediciones se ha reconocido el compromiso de notables mecenas como: Esther Koplowitz y al profesor Philippe de Montebello, en 2020; los estadounidenses Daniel y Estrellita Brodsky junto al matrimonio formado por Fernando Masaveu y Carolina Compostizo, en 2019; la Baronesa Carmen Thyssen Bornemisza y Carlos Slim, en 2018; Carlos Fitz-James Stuart y Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, en 2017; o Elena Ochoa Foster y Bárbara Garza, en 2016; la italiana Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo y los mexicanos Valentín Diez Morodo, por la Casa de México en España y Eugenio López por la Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo en el 2023.
