175 Lunas en la caja del cuerpo
Poco antes de cumplir quince años en República Dominicana, me di a la tarea de extraer las ideas-imágenes que había anotado en mi diario a lo largo de 175 meses en el país y comencé a desarrollar el boceto de una instalación en la que cada dibujo representara un mes. El trabajo de todo este tiempo consiste en propiciar que existan todas las piezas de este gran calendario.
Cada pieza tiene las dimensiones de un codo cuadrado, tomado de las medidas de mi cuerpo. En medio de la circunferencia que mide dos palmos de mis manos, he dibujado los recuerdos y los apuntes que fui dejando en las hojas de mis cuadernos.
“Mi obra pictórica y dibujística se nutre de la actualidad socio política, los aspectos cambiantes de los fenómenos culturales y la dinámica de relaciones cotidianas que nos afectan íntima y socialmente. Siempre he sentido curiosidad por investigar los aspectos culturales de los lugares que he habitado, de manera que esto se ha convertido en uno de los motivos de mi trayecto por el mundo simbólico que tanto identifica mi producción”.
Nacido en La Habana, Cuba. En 2007 fue premiada su obra Enlatado de aguas territoriales (El Colmado) en la XXIV Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Santo Domingo. En 2013 se alzó con otro premio en la XXVII Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales con la obra Deforestación: de la jungla a la botánica. Su obra forma parte de la colección permanente del MAM y del Grupo Diario Libre.

175 Moons in the body box
Shortly before turning fifteen in the Dominican Republic, I set about the task of extracting the ideas-images that I had written down in my diary during 175 months in the country and began to develop the sketch of an installation in which each drawing Represent a month. The work of all this time consists in favoring that all the pieces of this great calendar exist. Each piece has the dimensions of a square elbow, taken from the measurements of my body. In the middle of the circumference that measures two hands of my hands, I have drawn the memories and the notes that I left in the sheets of my notebooks.
"My pictorial and drawing work is nourished by current socio-political, the changing aspects of cultural phenomena and the dynamics of everyday relationships that affect us intimately and socially. I have always been curious to investigate the cultural aspects of the places I have inhabited, so this has become one of the reasons for my journey through the symbolic world that so much identifies my production. " Born in Havana, Cuba. In 2007 he was awarded his work Canning of territorial waters (El Colmado) at the XXIV National Biennial of Visual Arts at the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo. In 2013 he won another prize at the XXVII National Biennial of Visual Arts with the work Deforestation: from jungle to botany. His work is part of the permanent collection of MAM and Grupo Diario Libre.
