El viernes 20 de Abril, a las 7:30pm, Ossaye Casa de Arte presentará una charla gratuita dentro del marco del Taller / Capacitación en la Curaduría de Exposiciones. Los facilitadores de dicha actividad serán: Elvis Fuentes y Gabriela M. Fernandez.
Título de la charla: TANIA BRUGUERA: LOS FINES DEL TOTALITARISMO
Durante la Bienal de La Habana de 2015, Tania Bruguera realizó una acción plástica, que consistió en leer el libro Los orígenes del totalitarismo, de Hannah Arendt, en un abierto desafío a las autoridades cubanas que la mantenían confinada en su casa. Esta acción, y la consiguiente creación del Instituto de Artivismo Hannah Arendt, abren una nueva fase en la obra de Bruguera. En esta conferencia, el curador Elvis Fuentes reflexiona sobre la trayectoria de la artista por más de treinta años, con particular énfasis en la reciente presentación de Sin Título (La Habana, 2000), reproducida por el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York este invierno.
Elvis Fuentes es Candidato a Doctor por la Universidad Estatal Rutgers, de Nueva Jersey, y curador independiente por más de quince años en Cuba, Puerto Rico y los Estados Unidos.
Ha sido invitado a curar la próxima Trienal Poli/Gráfica de San Juan, Puerto Rico y es el invitado de Ossaye Casa de Arte OCA para impartir la charla sobre Tania Bruguera por la relevante importancia que ha tenido la artista cubana en los ámbitos del arte contemporáneo.

Title of the talk: TANIA BRUGUERA: THE PURPOSES OF TOTALITARIANISM
During the Biennial of Havana in 2015, Tania Bruguera made a plastic action, which consisted of reading the book The origins of totalitarianism, by Hannah Arendt, in an open challenge to the Cuban authorities that kept her confined to her home. This action, and the subsequent creation of the Institute of Artivism Hannah Arendt, open a new phase in the work of Bruguera. In this lecture, curator Elvis Fuentes reflects on the artist's career for more than thirty years, with particular emphasis on the recent presentation of Sin Título (Havana, 2000), reproduced by the Museum of Modern Art in New York this winter .
Elvis Fuentes is a PhD Candidate from Rutgers State University, New Jersey, and an independent curator for more than fifteen years in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the United States.
He has been invited to curate the next Trienal Poli / Gráfica of San Juan, Puerto Rico and is the guest of Ossaye Casa de Arte OCA to give the talk about Tania Bruguera due to the important importance that the Cuban artist has had in the fields of contemporary art .
