“Se acerca al abismo hacia el que le atraen misteriosas fuerzas telúricas”
Fermín Ceballos irrumpe poderoso, contundente, la escena del arte contemporáneo dominicano del siglo XXI. Acomete cuestionando y develando su psiquis a través del arte, del espíritu y la materia.
Su carrera inicia irremediablemente, revelada e impulsada por el maestro Oviedo en el año 2002, con las siguientes palabras sobre la obra de Ceballos: “Una obra rica en enigma, diseño, sobriedad en color, composición balanceada y textura bien lograda”, aclarando en el texto de la primera individual de Ceballos que no acostumbra a escribir sobre las jóvenes promesas del arte dominicano. Por recomendación del maestro Oviedo, su obra es promovida por Antonio Ocaña, agente de Oviedo, constituyéndose en el primer representante de Ceballos.
La obra de Ceballos posee una impronta que permanece indeleble desde sus primeros trabajos del 1999 hasta su obra actual; es un investigador puro de materiales, medios y manifestaciones artísticas; pureza que trasciende a su producción, una producción auténtica que no reproduce patrones comerciales, que rompe con los estereotipos de un artista del Caribe, sin desconectarse de sus raíces, arriesgado; que mantiene una permanente investigación del arte por el arte; y desde entonces hasta hoy en día, Ceballos utiliza signos, estilos y materiales para descubrir y mostrar el resultado de sus recuerdos, miedos , dudas, como si a través del arte, pudiese encontrar las respuestas del universo, de un universo contenido en su esencia y lanzado a través de su obra plástica y sus performances, creación poderosa que se muestra a través de su humanidad, la humanidad misma, contenida en una personalidad apacible y serena, en la que se encuentra un cosmos de preguntas sin respuestas, de teorías filosóficas analizadas, que llevan al artista a un encuentro muchas veces sombrío, otras violento, a veces melancólico, en donde el sacrificio y la persistencia conllevan a la búsqueda de revelaciones en un ritual similar al de una oración, a una meditación, a una conexión espiritual, en la cual se van descubriendo los misterios de su alma, que a la vez lo conectan con el universo cósmico de lo infinito.
Ossaye Casa de Arte despliega en sus salas la exhibición “Telúrico”, del artista Fermín Ceballos. Se exhiben doce obras que comprenden el período de 1999 al 2005, de las cuales diez son realizadas sobre papel en técnica mixta y dos son lienzos de gran formato.
La muestra nos conduce por distintas épocas, estilos e influencias del artista, en lo que se considera la primera etapa de producción artística de Ceballos; obras que, en su conjunto, nos conducen por una línea de tiempo que presenta de manera fluida y natural el proceso de búsqueda y madurez del artista, transitando del interiorismo al expresionismo abstracto, jugando con técnicas y materiales, guiado por la curiosidad, explorando y conociendo el mundo del arte, buscando respuestas en las que se conjuga la investigación del arte con la investigación del hombre en sí y del mundo que le rodea, conformando un hilo conductor que se desenlaza en las obras presentadas en la muestra “Telúrico”.
El espacio Ossaye Casa de Arte recibe al espectador con dos obras de gran formato, que marcan de manera determinante el inicio de la visita. Una de ellas, “Rendijas”, maneja el negro en gran formato, permitiendo que el espectador penetre en la obra a través de grietas de luz que trascienden con un halo de misterio.
La referencia a la naturaleza se encuentra en varias de sus obras en distintas etapas, transforma los temas de un momento a otro, como las montañas, la luna y la lluvia, a veces regresa a ellos, en una plena libertad de jugar con uno y con otro; la naturaleza y sus símbolos son referentes de su presencia en el mundo exterior y los cuales transmuta en su obra como respuesta a sus sentimientos de forma nostálgica y devota, como son “El vuelo de la libélula” y “La flor de mi jardín”.
Sin embargo, encontramos en otras obras inspiradas en la naturaleza una postura que se relaciona más a la contemplación, a la meditación, a la reflexión, al ensimismamiento, como son “Memoria del amanecer”, “Luna sobre el mar”, “Estudio sobre la lluvia”; y en otras obras, la naturaleza no es más que una excusa para liberarse a sí mismo, trascender a otros ámbitos a través de una emoción provocada por la experiencia, tratando de exteriorizar una idea, de analizar el yo, como son “Nube herida” y “Nube sobre la montaña”.
La obra de Fermín es una encrucijada de caminos espirituales y terrenales, cósmicos y filosóficos, de la que nos hace partícipes, espectadores comprometidos en una humanidad compartida, sin importar estilos, medios y épocas, sin importar que transite entre lo real y lo emocional, entre pinturas, dibujos y collages.
Solo encontramos en la obra de Ceballos la exploración incesante, inagotable y persistente de claves para entender, en diálogo abierto, la vida y la eternidad.

Fermín Ceballos bursts powerful, forceful, the scene of contemporary Dominican art of the 21st century. It undertakes questioning and unveiling its psyche through art, spirit and matter.
His career began irremediably, revealed and promoted by the teacher Oviedo in 2002, with the following words on the work of Ceballos: "A work rich in enigma, design, sobriety in color, balanced composition and texture well achieved", clarifying in the text of the first individual by Ceballos that he does not usually write about the young promises of Dominican art. On the recommendation of the teacher Oviedo, his work is promoted by Antonio Ocaña, agent of Oviedo, becoming the first representative of Ceballos.
The work of Ceballos has an imprint that remains indelible from his first works of 1999 to his current work; he is a pure researcher of materials, media and artistic manifestations; purity that transcends its production, an authentic production that does not reproduce commercial patterns, that breaks with the stereotypes of a Caribbean artist, without disconnecting from his roots, risky; that maintains a permanent investigation of art for art's sake; and from then until today, Ceballos uses signs, styles and materials to discover and show the result of his memories, fears, doubts, as if through art, he could find the answers of the universe, of a universe contained in its essence and launched through his plastic work and his performances, a powerful creation that is shown through his humanity, humanity itself, contained in a peaceful and serene personality, in which there is a cosmos of questions without answers, of philosophical theories analyzed, which lead the artist to a meeting often somber, sometimes violent, sometimes melancholic, where sacrifice and persistence lead to the search for revelations in a ritual similar to that of a prayer, a meditation, a spiritual connection , in which the mysteries of his soul are discovered, which at the same time connect him to the cosmic universe of the infinite.
Ossaye Casa de Arte displays in its halls the "Telúrico" exhibition, by the artist Fermín Ceballos. Twelve works are exhibited that include the period from 1999 to 2005, of which ten are made on paper in mixed technique and two are large-format canvases.
The exhibition takes us through different eras, styles and influences of the artist, in what is considered the first stage of Ceballos' artistic production; works that, as a whole, lead us through a timeline that presents in a fluid and natural way the process of search and maturity of the artist, transiting from the interior to abstract expressionism, playing with techniques and materials, guided by curiosity, exploring and knowing the world of art, looking for answers in which art research is combined with the investigation of man himself and the world around him, forming a common thread that unravels in the works presented in the exhibition "Telluric".
The Ossaye Casa de Arte space receives the viewer with two large-format works, which decisively mark the beginning of the visit. One of them, "Rendijas", handles black in large format, allowing the viewer to penetrate the work through cracks of light that transcend with a halo of mystery.
The reference to nature is found in several of his works in different stages, transforms the themes from one moment to another, such as the mountains, the moon and the rain, sometimes returns to them, in full freedom to play with one and with another; nature and its symbols are referents of his presence in the outside world and which transmutes in his work as a response to his feelings in a nostalgic and devout way, such as "The flight of the dragonfly" and "The flower of my garden."
However, we find in other works inspired by nature a posture that is more related to contemplation, meditation, reflection, self-absorption, such as "Memory of the sunrise", "Moon over the sea", "Study on The rain"; and in other works, nature is no more than an excuse to liberate oneself, to transcend other areas through an emotion provoked by experience, trying to externalize an idea, to analyze the self, as they are "Cloud wound" and "Cloud over the mountain".
Fermín's work is a crossroads of spiritual and earthly, cosmic and philosophical paths, of which he makes us participants, spectators committed to a shared humanity, regardless of styles, means and times, regardless of whether he transits between the real and the emotional, between paintings, drawings and collages.
We only find in the work of Ceballos the incessant, inexhaustible and persistent exploration of keys to understand, in open dialogue open, life and eternity.
