Bajo la temática de Hallazgos, durante el próximo mes de noviembre, serán inauguradas una treintena de exposiciones que conformarán la oferta cultural de Photoimagen 2018.
Las sedes estarán repartidas en la geografía nacional, en las ciudades de Santo Domingo, Santiago, Bonao, La Vega, Jarabacoa y La Romana, en museos, galerías, centros culturales y otros espacios expositivos.
Desde su creación en el 2006, Photoimagen se ha posicionado como el más importante festival de fotografía y video, creación que se realiza en el Caribe, en sus inicios celebrado anualmente, y a partir de su tercera versión en el 2008 pasó a tener carácter bienal. La Directora General de este evento, desde el 2006, es Mayra Johnson, a través de la Fundación Imagen 83, la cual preside.
En esta octava edición del festival, España será el país invitado de honor, inaugurando a lo largo de noviembre cuatro importantes exposiciones, auspiciadas por la Embajada de España en Santo Domingo, el Centro Cultural de España, la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional, y enmarcada en las Semanas de España en República Dominicana.
Entre las muestras españolas, destacamos Trópico de Cáncer, de Juan Manuel Díaz Burgos, que se presentará el 1 de noviembre en el Centro León de Santiago. Díaz Burgos está estrechamente vinculado a los fotógrafos dominicanos y su muestra aborda sus recorridos en las últimas dos décadas por Cuba, Haití y República Dominicana.
Mientras, el 9 de noviembre se inaugurará en el Museo Cándido Bidó, de Bonao, la colectiva Un cierto panorama, curada por Jesús Micó, y en que el público podrá tener una visión de las líneas de trabajo de 54 artistas emergentes españoles.
El 23 de noviembre, uno de los platos fuertes del festival, Alberto García-Alix, Premio Nacional de Fotografía de España, nos llega con la muestra Un expresionismo feroz, comisariada por Ricardo Ramón Jarne, que será presentada en los espacios de la Galería Arte Berri y el Centro Cultural de España.
Es una individual dedicada a las motos, como guiño curatorial, con obras realizadas desde 1975 hasta nuestros días.
Ese mismo día, Jorge Lens, también español, exhibirá su muestra City blues. La ciudad habitada, en el Centro de la Imagen, enmarcada en la corriente de fotografía de calle, y centrada en las ciudades de Londres, Madrid, Atenas y Lisboa.
Dentro de la sección oficial de exposiciones, se presentará el 8 de noviembre en el Museo Bellapart Archivos Fotográficos Inéditos. 1948-1973, de la autoría de la dominicana Belkis Adrover de Cibrán, una muestra que recoge sus largas estadías en España, en las que registró la vida y costumbres de distintos pueblos. Esta muestra se celebra con motivo del centenario de su nacimiento, y cuenta con la curaduría de Carlos Acero Ruiz, y la investigación y custodia del legado de la artista por parte de Ylonka Nacidit-Perdomo.
Completan la oferta expositiva, las muestras colectivas La otra mirada, conformada por creadores dominicanos menores de 35 años de edad; Confluencias, paisajes en movimiento, también con fotógrafos dominicanos.
Mientras que la participación de los artistas extranjeros se mostrarán en las exposiciones Unreal y Transiciones, que serán presentadas en el Centro Cultural Banreservas y la Quinta Dominica. Todas estas muestras comisariadas por Carlos Acero Ruiz, Director Artístico y Curador de Photoimagen.
La colombiana Maria Clara Gaviria ocupará el Centro Domínico-Alemán; mientras que el mexicano Javier Hinojosa, el Museo Fernado Defilló.
Los dominicanos Polibio Díaz y Rubén Dario Abud también estarán presentes con individuales, para citar algunos nombres de las figuras que participarán en este festival.
Dentro de las actividades paralelas de Photoimagen 2018, se presentarán conferencias, talleres y un ciclo de cine en el auditorio del Centro de las Telecomunicaciones de INDOTEL, que se centrarán en tres ejes temáticos:
Premios Goya de Fotografía, Premios Nacionales de Fotografía de España y Figuras del Fotoperiodismo español. Todas estas actividades serán gratuitas, hasta completar aforo o límite de participantes por inscripción previa.

The VIII edition of Photoimagen
Under the theme of Findings, during the next month of November, thirty exhibitions that will make up the cultural offer of Photoimagen 2018 will be inaugurated.

Since its creation in 2006, Photoimagen has positioned itself as the most important photography and video festival, a creation that takes place in the Caribbean, in its beginnings held annually, and from its third version in 2008 it became biennial. Díaz Burgos is closely linked to Dominican photographers and his exhibition addresses his travels in the last two decades through Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

On November 23, one of the highlights of the festival, Alberto García-Alix, National Photography Award of Spain, comes with the exhibition A Fierce Expressionism, curated by Ricardo Ramón Jarne, which will be presented in the spaces of the Art Gallery Berri and the Cultural Center of Spain.
It is an individual dedicated to motorcycles, as a curatorial wink, with works made from 1975 to the present day.
That same day, Jorge Lens, also Spanish, will exhibit his City blues sample. The inhabited city, in the Center of the Image, framed in the stream of street photography, and centered in the cities of London, Madrid, Athens and Lisbon.
Within the official exhibition section, on November 8 will be presented at the Bellapart Museum Photographic Archives Unpublished. 1948-1973, by the author of the Dominican Belkis Adrover de Cibrán, a sample that includes his long stays in Spain, in which he recorded the life and customs of different peoples. This exhibition is celebrated on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, and has the curatorship of Carlos Acero Ruiz, and the investigation and custody of the artist's legacy by Ylonka Nacidit-Perdomo.
The exhibition offer is completed by the collective exhibitions La otra mirada, made up of Dominican creators under 35 years of age; Confluences, landscapes in movement, also with Dominican photographers.
While the participation of foreign artists will be shown at the Unreal and Transitions exhibitions, which will be presented at the Banreservas Cultural Center and the Quinta Dominica. All these samples curated by Carlos Acero Ruiz, Artistic Director and Curator of Photoimagen.

Goya Photography Awards, National Photography Awards of Spain and Figures of Spanish Photojournalism. All these activities will be free, until full capacity or limit of participants by prior registration.
