Los volúmenes de la Colección Aduanas: obras artistas plásticos, Dirección General de Aduanas, muestran un temario firmado por los críticos de arte Danilo de los Santos, María Elena Ditrén, Myrna Guerrero y Virginia Goris. A propósito de su reedición y actualización, queremos hacer énfasis en la diversidad estilística de las obras que ilustran la nueva edición de los tres volúmenes y complementar los juicios críticos para ayudar a comprender la dimensión del tipo de coleccionismo de arte asumido por esta institución, acordándole valor a las piezas que conforman lo que se podría entender como un museo en formación.
Tal y como podemos apreciar desde los artículos críticos y la operación curatorial que los orienta, la Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA), plantea una perspectiva significativa al actual coleccionismo de arte en la República Dominicana. Los volúmenes 1, 2 y 3, publicados anteriormente (2007 y 2008) ofrecen un marco de ideas que conducen a su conformación como proyecto, pero también al perfil institucional y cultural de la colección.
Están dedicados, in memoriam, a quien puso los cimientos de dicha colección: el licenciado Miguel Cocco Guerrero (1946--2009). La muestra que exhibe la presente obra se afirma en el convencimiento de que el arte dominicano establece sus raíces en un orden estético- cultural que también registra y moviliza su identidad, esto es, su condición expresiva de valores surgentes desde la obra misma de sus creadores visuales en un contexto de identidad y lenguaje.
Aparte de los temas tratados al respecto por los curadores y críticos de arte presentes en la colección, ofrece y caracteriza algunas piezas folklóricas constituidas mediante un tipo de forja visible como arte en contexto (véase el volumen 3, “Folklore”, pp. 145 -160). “Arte utilitario” ofrece piezas provenientes de la estética industrial: bumpers de autos antiguos, motocicletas Choopers, West Coast, Suzuki y Harley-Davidson 100). Diez semblanzas de críticos de arte reafirman el juicio y tratamiento analítico de la muestra, editada en el presente volumen y los anteriores con sus correspondientes marbetes. Los críticos y curadores son conocidos en el ámbito cultural y artístico dominicano: Abil Peralta Agüero, Danilo de los Santos, Laura Gil, León David, Manuel Núñez, María Elena Ditrén, Marianne de Tolentino, Myrna Guerrero Villalona, Odalís G. Pérez y Virginia Goris.
Un índice de artistas, acompañado con una pieza y una biografía mínima de cada artista, coronan los tomos auspiciados y publicados por la Dirección General de Aduanas. Cada pieza de los artistas en cuestión lleva consigo su título y número de página donde aparece.
Es importante destacar que, en todo momento, el juicio crítico sobre esta Colección de Aduanas se fundamenta en obras, generaciones, formas, lenguajes identitarios, géneros artísticos, estructuras culturales y contextos estéticos y artísticos de formación. Lo que implica necesariamente un juicio, una doxa comprensiva de tema, lenguaje, estilo, imaginario cultural, sentido, ubicación del artista, su producto y su productividad en el orden cultural dominicano.
Llama la atención en este caso la calidad y el diseño del libro como tal y del equipo técnico de estas publicaciones. La expresividad fotográfica de las obras mostradas sobresale por el eje composicional y la particularidad cromática de cada obra y su reproducción.
Con los presentes volúmenes, la DGA afirma su empeño en constituir un museo de calidad, valor cultural e institucional como genuino aporte a la sociedad y a la cultura dominicanas de nuestros días. La continuidad de este proyecto en tiempo, espacio e interacción motiva cada vez más el interés, el sentido y la divulgación del patrimonio artístico-visual dominicano.
Collection of Customs, a contribution to National Art
The volumes of the Customs Collection: works of plastic artists, General Directorate of Customs, show a symposium signed by art critics Danilo de los Santos, Maria Elena Ditrén, Myrna Guerrero and Virginia Goris. With regard to its reissue and updating, we want to emphasize the stylistic diversity of the works that illustrate the new edition of the three volumes and complement the critical judgments to help understand the dimension of the type of art collection undertaken by this institution, according to value to the pieces that make up what could be understood as a museum in formation.
As we can see from the critical articles and the curatorial operation that guides them, the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), poses a significant perspective to the current collection of art in the Dominican Republic. Volumes 1, 2 and 3, previously published (2007 and 2008) offer a framework of ideas that lead to its conformation as a project, but also to the institutional and cultural profile of the collection.
They are dedicated, in memoriam, to whom he laid the foundations of this collection: the lawyer Miguel Cocco Guerrero (1946-2009). The exhibition exhibited by this work is based on the conviction that Dominican art establishes its roots in an aesthetic-cultural order that also registers and mobilizes its identity, that is, its expressive condition of emerging values from the very work of its creators visuals in a context of identity and language.
Apart from the topics dealt with by curators and art critics present in the collection, it offers and characterizes some folkloric pieces constituted by a type of forge visible as art in context (see volume 3, "Folklore", pp. 145 - 160). Ten portraits of art critics reaffirm the trial and analytical treatment of the sample, published in this volume and the previous ones with their corresponding labels. Critics and curators are known in the Dominican cultural and artistic field: Abil Peralta Agüero, Danilo de los Santos, Laura Gil, David Leon, Manuel Núñez, María Elena Ditrén, Marianne de Tolentino, Myrna Guerrero Villalona, Odalís G. Pérez and Virginia Goris.
An index of artists, accompanied by a piece and a minimal biography of each artist, crown the volumes sponsored and published by the Customs General Directorate. Each piece of the artists in question carries its title and page number where it appears.
It is important to emphasize that, at all times, the critical judgment on this Collection of Customs is based on works, generations, forms, identity languages, artistic genres, cultural structures and artistic and aesthetic contexts of formation. What necessarily implies a judgment, a comprehensive doxa of theme, language, style, cultural imaginary, sense, location of the artist, its product and its productivity in the Dominican cultural order.
The quality and design of the book as such and the technical team of these publications draw attention in this case. The photographic expressiveness of the works shown stands out for the compositional axis and the chromatic peculiarity of each work and its reproduction.
With the present volumes, the DGA affirms its commitment to constitute a museum of quality, cultural and institutional value as a genuine contribution to society and the Dominican culture of our time. The continuity of this project in time, space and interaction motivates more and more the interest, the meaning and the dissemination of the Dominican artistic-visual heritage.
