Art Basel Miami Beach, el evento que ayudó a catapultar Miami como capital cultural para el mundo, celebra 20 años de vida bajo el liderazgo de Marc Spiegler, quien durante la apertura de la feria entregó su cargo a Noah Horowitz, nuevo director ejecutivo de la marca global.

En el evento expositivo captaron una selección mínima de obras de arte representativas del arte contemporáneo en esta feria de arte internacional, Art Basel. AR.
Con eventos que se extienden hasta el domingo 3 de diciembre, Art Basel Miami Beach 2022 acoge a coleccionistas, celebridades, artistas, galeristas en uno de los encuentros de arte global más relevantes que conmemora dos décadas de historia con un espíritu festivo y un número récord de galerías en las que los creadores iberoamericanos vuelven a brillar. “Estamos defendiendo una técnica cargada, en la que se aplica mucho material para generar figuras, símbolos y naturaleza muerta que evoque a la cultura popular”, agregó sobre la obra de Ana Patra, artista que representa el arte latinoamericano y el modernismo a través de su propia visión.
Presencia latina
Art Basel Miami Beach ubicado al sur de la Florida en el circuito internacional del arte desde su nacimiento en el año 2002, y tal ha sido su éxito, que en la actualidad el evento ha propiciado la creación de nuevos museos y galerías, el auge de distritos de arte como Wynwood y Bird Road, y ha tenido un impacto en la economía local que se calcula en 400 o 500 millones de dólares anuales, según datos entregado por Art Basel.
De ahí la relevancia de la feria global que en esta edición congrega más de 280 galerías y que como cada año, se establecen bajo el orden temático de Galleries, Meridians, Positions, Nova, Survey y Edition, espacios donde los latinos dicen presente, como es el caso del artista mexicano Cristóbal Gracia.
“Me interesa la construcción de narrativas históricas, y esto está atado a la construcción de ciertos cánones estéticos y culturales. Viniendo de un país como México, que no es un país de occidente, sino que fue occidentalizado, me interesa pensar cómo este país colonizado se transformó culturalmente desde adentro”, dijo el artista quien presentó en Art Basel piezas bajo la técnica de la litografía y el grabado, que reflejan las fracturas culturales y que buscan reconstruir la historia desde adentro.
Otra de las galerías latinoamericanas que aterrizó en la feria fue Casas Riegner, que presentó la obra de siete artistas colombianos, algunos de ellos considerados pioneros del arte contemporáneo en su país, y otros de mediana carrera.
“Son creadores que han contribuido al desarrollo del arte contemporáneo en Colombia como Beatriz González y Débora Arango. Esta última, una las artistas más importantes que ha tenido nuestro país. Ella es de las primeras artistas feministas, fue muy controversial y aquí tenemos su obra”, dijo a Diario Las Américas Paula Bossa, curadora.
Destacando las obras de artistas de mediana trayectoria como Bernardo Ortiz y Carlos Alfonso, la galería que trae las piezas de artistas colombianos destaca distintas técnicas como el dibujo y la pintura a través de obras que hablan de la fragilidad del ser humano. Tema que se refleja en los materiales utilizados por los creadores y las temáticas que abordan.
Finalmente, artistas de España y Perú destacaron en la galería de Maisterravalbuena, quienes participan en Art Basel Miami Beach desde el año 2009.
“Nuestra misión es traer artistas consolidados y presentar nuevos nombres. Queremos que la gente vea obras que no han visto, para eso nos centramos una selección que une distintas narrativas y épocas”, dijo Belén Valbuena, curadora que trajo a Miami la obra en arpillera con fibras de yute del artista Antonio Ballester Moreno.
“Para el artista es muy importante utilizar este material natural para la representación de sus imágenes que son abstracciones de la naturaleza”, dijo.
Lo que debes ver
Proyectos a gran escala que van desde presentaciones físicas hasta obras de arte virtuales, son algunas de las piezas que debes ver en Art Basel Miami Beach, al igual que el trabajo del artista ucraniano Nikita Kadan, la canadiense Sharona Franklin, quien presenta la pieza Tenuous Support, hecha, entre otros materiales, de pastillas caducadas y una jeringa; y la obra de María José Arjona titulada ‘Chair’, que presenta a una mujer real como parte de la pieza.
También destaca la obra en papel del artista cubano Agustín Cárdenas, el trabajo del artista japonés Ei-Q, y las piezas de artistas consagrados del siglo XX como el pintor francés Francis Picabia y la pintora Georgia O’Keeffe, considerada la madre del modernismo estadounidense.
