Santo Domingo.- Con la exposición “Introspectivo”, el Ministerio de Cultura reabrirá la galería dedicada a la trayectoria de Ramón Oviedo, extinto maestro de la pintura dominicana condecorado con las más altas distinciones e importantes premios nacionales e internacionales a lo largo de su carrera.

La muestra será inaugurada próximo mañana, a las 11:00 a.m. y abierta al público al día siguiente, hasta el 10 de mayo de este año. Por la situación sanitaria actual, los visitantes deberán respetar las medidas de protección establecidas por las autoridades.
La Fundación Ramón Oviedo informó que la exposición contará con más de 20 autorretratos del maestro, entre pinturas sobre lienzos de gran formato y dibujos, algunos de ellos no conocidos por el público.
“Agradecemos a los coleccionistas privados Isaac Rudman, Kelvin Naar, Fernando Báez, Alberto Cruz, Purísima de León, Omar Molina y Antonio Ocaña, quienes han cedido las piezas para la actividad”, añadió.
La esperada reapertura
Sobre la reapertura de la galería, la Fundación Ramón Oviedo resaltó que esta había sido inaugurada en 2007, pero que fue paulatinamente reducida de tamaño, hasta ser clausurada.
“El descontento de la clase artística no se hizo esperar y, en 2020, la Fundación Ramón Oviedo contactó a las nuevas autoridades del Ministerio de Cultura, quienes con actitud receptiva iniciaron la recuperación de la galería de exposiciones y actividades en homenaje al artista”, indicó.
La institución resaltó la firme decisión de la ministra de Cultura, Carmen Heredia, de recuperar el espacio para continuar con la divulgación de la obra de uno de los más importantes maestros de la pintura dominicana.
La muestra pictórica
Las pinturas y dibujos que serán exhibidos reflejan la capacidad creativa de Oviedo y plantean lo atemporal de su obra, haciendo al receptor recordar lo ya percibido y poniéndolo en contacto con su mundo interior, lo universal, lo transversal y con la esencia del espíritu humano, al tiempo que motiva su pensamiento y reflexión.
“Se evidencia que, más allá de un pintor, hay en Oviedo un humanista, un gran genio”, subraya la Fundación que lleva su nombre, la cual refiere que el artista fue consagrado por el Congreso Nacional como Maestro Ilustre de la Pintura Dominicana, recibió del Gobierno dominicano la Medalla al Mérito Duarte, Sánchez y Mella y fue condecorado por el Gobierno de Francia como Caballero Ilustre de las Artes y las Letras.
“Es el único dominicano”, agrega, “con un autorretrato en el Corredor Vasariano de la Galería Degli Uffizi, en Florencia, Italia, al lado de Leonardo da Vinci, Miguel Ángel, Rembrandt, Velázquez y otros grandes genios de la pintura universal”.
Ramón Oviedo nació el siete de febrero de 1924 en Barahona, región Sur de República Dominicana, y falleció en 2015, a los 91 años, dejando un legado artístico trascendente y único.

The Ramón Oviedo Foundation reported that the exhibition will feature more than 20 self-portraits of the master, including paintings on large-format canvases and drawings, some of them not known to the public.
"We thank the private collectors Isaac Rudman, Kelvin Naar, Fernando Báez, Alberto Cruz, Purísima de León, Omar Molina and Antonio Ocaña, who have donated the pieces for the activity," he added.
The long-awaited reopening
Regarding the reopening of the gallery, the Ramón Oviedo Foundation highlighted that it had been inaugurated in 2007, but that it was gradually reduced in size, until it was closed.

"It is evident that, beyond a painter, there is in Oviedo a humanist, a great genius", underlines the Foundation that bears his name, which refers that the artist was consecrated by the National Congress as Illustrious Master of Dominican Painting. He received the Duarte, Sánchez y Mella Medal of Merit from the Dominican Government and was decorated by the Government of France as Illustrious Knight of Arts and Letters.
"He is the only Dominican," he adds, "with a self-portrait in the Vasari Corridor of the Degli Uffizi Gallery, in Florence, Italy, next to Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Velázquez and other great geniuses of universal painting." .
Ramón Oviedo was born on February 7, 1924 in Barahona, southern region of the Dominican Republic, and died in 2015, at the age of 91, leaving a unique and transcendent artistic legacy.
