La sutil sensibilidad e ingenio incisivo de Anastasia Samoylova caracterizan su forma única de ver uno de los temas más urgentes del siglo XXI: el cambio climático. Su compromiso con el agua es lo que en última instancia determina el sentido de su trabajo. La artista se mueve a través de espacios naturales y urbanos, seleccionando detalles misteriosos que nos recuerdan la posibilidad de una catástrofe inminente, o apuntando a la gentrificación relacionada con el clima y la expulsión de las comunidades locales. David Campany es curador, escritor y Director General de programas en el Centro Internacional de Fotografía de Nueva York. Reconocido por su escritura atractiva y rigurosa, exposiciones y oratoria, David ha trabajado en todo el mundo con instituciones como MoMA New York, Tate, Whitechapel Gallery London, Centre Pompidou, Le Bal Paris, Stedelijk Museum, The Photographer's Gallery London, ParisPhoto, PhotoLondon, la Galería Nacional de Retratos de Londres, Aperture, Steidl, MIT Press, Thames & Hudson, MACK y Frieze. Anastasia Samoylova trabaja entre la fotografía de observación, la práctica de estudio y la instalación. En 2020, realizó una exposición individual en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del USF Tampa. Desde entonces, su trabajo fue presentado en la Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie, en Alemania. Anastasia Samoylova's subtle sensitivity and incisive wit characterize her unique way of looking at one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century: climate change. Your commitment to water is what ultimately determines the meaning of your work. The artist moves through natural and urban spaces, selecting mysterious details that remind us of the possibility of an impending catastrophe, or pointing to climate-related gentrification and the expulsion of local communities. The result is a unique portrait of the region, capturing its ambiguous essence as a celestial but fragile and uncertain geography.
David Campany is a curator, writer and CEO of programs at the New York International Center for Photography. Renowned for his engaging and rigorous writing, exhibitions and public speaking, David has worked around the world with institutions such as MoMA New York, Tate, Whitechapel Gallery London, Center Pompidou, Le Bal Paris, Stedelijk Museum, The Photographer's Gallery London, ParisPhoto, PhotoLondon , The National Portrait Gallery, London, Aperture, Steidl, MIT Press, Thames & Hudson, MACK and Frieze. In 2020 he was curator of the Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie 2020 of three cities: The lives and loves of images (Mannheim / Ludwigshafen / Heidelberg, Germany).
Anastasia Samoylova works between observational photography, studio practice, and installation. In 2020, she held a solo exhibition at the USF Tampa Museum of Contemporary Art. Since then, her work has been presented at the Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie, in Germany. Other recent exhibitions include the University of Salisbury; Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago; Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design; Griffin Museum of Photography; Opening foundation; as well as numerous festivals in Brazil, Belgium, France, Israel, Spain, the Netherlands and South Korea. Her work is included in the collections of the Pérez Art Museum in Miami, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, and the Art Slant Collection, Paris, among others. She received several grants for her ongoing FloodZone project, including the South Arts Fellowship and the Michael P. Smith Fund for Documentary Photography. The project book was published by Steidl in 2019. Samoylova received her MA in Photography from Bradley University and her MA in Environmental Design from Russia State University for the Humanities
