La galería Lucy García Gallery inauguró este jueves en el Museo Fernando Peña Defilló, la exposición individual “Estoy aquí pero no soy yo”, del artista Franz Caba. Entre paisajes contemporáneos de nuevos símbolos que son parte de nuestro vivir, Caba nos transporta a una experiencia llena de ficción, enlazada a una realidad latente de cómo somos y en qué creemos.
Esta exposición es el inicio de un propósito de alianzas entre la galería Lucy García y los distintos espacios culturales, con el interés de crear una dinámica relación de crecimiento para los artistas comprometidos con su oficio, así como la búsqueda de difundir la elevación de una cultura de apreciación y valoración a nuestro arte local, con una mirada internacional.
Bajo la curaduría de Orlando Isaac y Alex Martínez Suárez, esta exhibición ocupa todos los espacios del museo, que recibe con entusiasmo a la galería y con ella a este artista contemporáneo, y además, honra la visión del maestro de la pintura dominicana Fernando Peña Defilló quien siempre estuvo dispuesto a mostrar su apoyo a los talentos emergentes del arte nacional.
La exposición se realizará desde el 14 de Julio hasta el 21 de agosto y se podrá visitar gratuitamente en la calle Padre Billini esquina, José Reyes, en la Ciudad Colonial de Santo Domingo.
Sobre el Artista Franz Caba, nacido en República Dominicana, es un arquitecto y artista multidisciplinario autodidacta cuyo trabajo se enfoca en el dibujo, la pintura e instalación. Considera su trabajo como un ejercicio íntimo donde explora las problemáticas acerca de la identidad, la vulnerabilidad y el cuerpo.
Fue partícipe en la residencia artística Caribbean Linked V en el 2018. Su trabajo ha sido exhibido en la República Dominicana y Aruba. Fue galardonado con el primer premio en el concurso de arte Premio Diario Libre de Arte Contemporáneo 2015 y ha sido seleccionado en diversos concursos en el país entre ellos, su participación en el 28 concurso de arte Eduardo León Jiménez en el año 2021.
Franz Caba aborda y reflexiona sobre las problemáticas del producto identitario, los imaginarios surgidos a partir de nuestro pasado colonial y la mirada a nuestro territorio turístico considerado como un paraíso caribeño.

Lucy García Gallery, es un espacio de arte vivo fundado en el 2014 por su directora y propietaria Lucy García, quien lleva más de 30 años dedicada al mundo del arte, esta galería que dirige tiene como eje principal romper con la visión estereotipada de los espacios tradicionales en la escena del arte dominicano siendo este un lugar donde se revalúa el arte como una necesidad vital más que como un objeto de consumo, creando en cada exhibición propuestas curatoriales de un arte, crítico, audaz y sofisticado, donde se apuesta por lo emergente y se profundiza en el arte establecido tanto en su reflexión como en el diálogo expositivo, proponiendo en cada muestra de sus artistas las narrativas visuales que marcan un profundo interés en su discurso crítico.

The Lucy García Gallery opened this Thursday at the Fernando Peña Defilló Museum, the individual exhibition “I am here but I am not me”, by the artist Franz Caba.
In this exhibition, a total of 23 works by the artist are exhibited, among which are paintings and installations based on the artist's view of our identity as Caribbean people, but above all as Dominicans.
Between contemporary landscapes of new symbols that are part of our lives, Caba transports us to an experience full of fiction, linked to a latent reality of how we are and what we believe.
This exhibition is the beginning of a purpose of alliances between the Lucy García gallery and the different cultural spaces, with the interest of creating a dynamic relationship of growth for artists committed to their craft, as well as the search to spread the elevation of a culture appreciation and appreciation of our local art, with an international perspective.
Under the curatorship of Orlando Isaac and Alex Martínez Suárez, this exhibition occupies all the spaces of the museum, which enthusiastically welcomes the gallery and with it this contemporary artist, and also honors the vision of the master of Dominican painting Fernando Peña Defilló who was always willing to show his support for the emerging talents of national art.
The exhibition will be held from July 14 to August 21 and can be visited for free at the corner of Padre Billini Street, José Reyes, in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo.
About the Artist
Franz Caba, born in the Dominican Republic, is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist and architect whose work focuses on drawing, painting and installation. He sees his work as an intimate exercise where he explores issues of identity, vulnerability, and the body.
He was a participant in the Caribbean Linked V artist residency in 2018. His work has been exhibited in the Dominican Republic and Aruba. He was awarded first prize in the art contest Premio Diario Libre de Arte Contemporáneo 2015 and has been selected in various contests in the country, including his participation in the 28th Eduardo León Jiménez art contest in 2021.
Franz Caba addresses and reflects on the problems of the identity product, the imaginaries arising from our colonial past and the look at our tourist territory considered as a Caribbean paradise.
