El Centro de la Imagen y la Fundación Imagen 83, en estrecha colaboración con el Museo Fernando Peña Defilló presentan la VII edición del Premio Joven de la Imagen, Fotografía y Video. Certamen que se viene celebrando con carácter bienal desde el 2011. A lo largo de estos años hemos visto cómo el evento ha servido de plataforma para artistas emergentes y algunos con carreras ya iniciadas, los cuales ya brillan con luz propia en la escena artística nacional, y otros más allá de nuestras fronteras. Es precisamente éste uno de los propósitos fundamentales del Centro de la Imagen: estimular a las nuevas generaciones que exploran la imagen a través del videoarte y la fotografía, para de esta manera difundirlas.
Estamos nuevamente en momentos de cambio, así como sucedió anteriormente con la revolución digital. Ahora la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) irrumpe con fuerza en distintos ámbitos del arte y la cultura, así como en la educación, ciencia, tecnología y economía. La IA ya está presente en el mundo del arte, y con mayor énfasis en la fotografía y el video, donde todavía no se han delimitado los marcos legales para el uso y generación de imágenes a través de este nuevo medio.
Por primera vez la competencia no se enmarca en un eje temático; los creadores han tenido completa libertad para abordar y comunicar sobre el mundo que les rodea, sin olvidar sus propias historias personales. El grupo de obras que conforman esta nueva versión del concurso resultan un buen muestrario de las diversas formas de abordar la imagen, desde lo analógico hasta o digital, sin olvidar la hibridación de medios, incluida la IA. Este conjunto permite tomar el pulso de este momento a la creación joven de la imagen, y de esta manera poder establecer diferencias con generaciones anteriores, en formas de comunicar, dialogar y reflexionar en la sociedad cambiante en que les ha tocado vivir.

The Image Center and the Imagen 83 Foundation, in close collaboration with the Fernando Peña Defilló Museum, present the VII edition of the Young Image, Photography and Video Award. Contest that has been held biennially since 2011. Throughout these years we have seen how the event has served as a platform for emerging artists and some with already started careers, which already shine with their own light on the national art scene. and others beyond our borders. This is precisely one of the fundamental purposes of the Image Center: to stimulate the new generations that explore the image through video art and photography, in order to disseminate them.
We are once again in moments of change, just as it happened before with the digital revolution. Now Artificial Intelligence (AI) is breaking into different fields of art and culture, as well as in education, science, technology and the economy. AI is already present in the world of art, and with greater emphasis in photography and video, where the legal frameworks for the use and generation of images through this new medium have not yet been defined.
For the first time the competition is not framed in a thematic axis; the creators have had complete freedom to approach and communicate about the world around them, without forgetting their own personal stories. The group of works that make up this new version of the contest are a good sample of the different ways of approaching the image, from analog to digital, without forgetting the hybridization of media, including AI. This set allows the young creation of the image to take the pulse of this moment, and in this way to be able to establish differences with previous generations, in ways of communicating, conversing and reflecting on the changing society in which they have had to live.
