Tras una espera de casi cinco años, un remozado Museo de Arte Moderno (MAM) acoge hasta mediados de diciembre la 29 Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales (29 BNAV). Aunque la exposición está abierta al público desde junio, será esta noche cuando el jurado de premiación del evento cultural que debió celebrarse en 2017 dé a conocer las obras premiadas en 9 categorías.

Dedicada a Orlando Menicucci, para esta edición se escogieron 286 de las 626 obras presentadas para premios: 117 pinturas, 16 esculturas, 24 dibujos, 47 fotografías, 12 obras gráficas, 4 cerámicas, 44 instalaciones, 1 acción plástica y 21 videos. ¿Novedades? Las hay en la distribución de los espacios, en nuevas firmas y un poco en el contenido temático. "Los temas nunca han variado, son el mismo planteamiento dentro de un contenido social", dice a Listín Diario el veterano guía del MAM, José Manuel Aquino. Sin embargo, explica que los temas ambientales resaltan en esta ocasión. Son muchas las propuestas que, desde diversas técnicas, abordan enfoques alusivos a la contaminación, amenazas a la biodiversidad y la reutilización de materiales. "Los demás temas son variados con relación a los artistas tradicionales. Hay abundantes pinturas, muchas fotografías y mucho arte urbano, que ha tomado cierto protagonismo dentro de la bienal", señala Aquino. ¿Propuestas que merecen una ojeada especial? El díptico tenue de Aquiles Azar Billini, las luces multiplicadas de Luis Arias, la puerta hacia el cielo de Mariano Bidó, los túneles y abismos de Elvin Díaz y el viaje a la memoria hastiada de Enriquillo Amiama.

After a wait of almost five years, a renovated Museum of Modern Art (MAM) is hosting the 29th National Visual Arts Biennial (29th BNAV) until mid-December. Although the exhibition has been open to the public since June, it will be tonight when the award jury of the cultural event that should have been held in 2017 will announce the winning works in 9 categories.

"The topics have never varied, they are the same approach within a social content," says veteran MAM guide José Manuel Aquino to Listín Diario.
However, he explains that environmental issues stand out on this occasion.
There are many proposals that, from various techniques, address approaches allusive to pollution, threats to biodiversity and the reuse of materials.
"The other themes are varied in relation to traditional artists. There are abundant paintings, many photographs and a lot of urban art, which has taken a certain role in the biennial," says Aquino.
Proposals that deserve a special look? The tenuous diptych of Aquiles Azar Billini, the multiplied lights of Luis Arias, the door to heaven by Mariano Bidó, the tunnels and abysses of Elvin Díaz and the trip to the jaded memory of Enriquillo Amiama.
