y Vídeo, PHOTOIMAGEN ha sido suspendida, hasta nuevo aviso, a

La gestora cultural y creadora de este evento, Mayra Johnson, indicó:
“a pesar de que los preparativos iban muy avanzados, fue necesario
postergar el evento, ante el panorama incierto que se ciñe sobre
nuestro entorno y a las limitaciones propias de distanciamiento social
que impone el Covid-19”. Johnson estuvo acompañada de Carlos
Acero Ruiz, Director Artístico de PHOTOIMAGEN y del Centro de la
Imagen, quien expresó lo siguiente: “Fue necesario tomar esta
decisión ante el cierre indefinido de las instituciones culturales
dominicanas, las cuales en cada versión del evento nos apoyan, tanto
desde el sector público como privado”.
“No era posible continuar con el esfuerzo, ya que la logística de
traslado de obras y artistas, tanto del exterior como dentro del país,
imponía muchos límites, sobre todo por el estado de emergencia
aprobado en repetidas ocasiones por el Congreso Nacional” expresó
Johnson. “En estos momentos la salud de los artistas y del público es
nuestra prioridad”. El esperado festival de fotografía no podrá ser
celebrado este año como corresponde, en un espacio seguro, y que
garantice la salud de todos los involucrados.
PHOTOIMAGEN es el festival más importante dedicado a la creación
fotográfica y de video que se celebra en la República Dominicana. Es
un encuentro que une a artistas locales en internacionales bajo la
sombrilla de un mismo evento no solo expositivo, sino teórico,
educativo y lúdico, para el disfrute del público que sigue y apoya cada
nueva puesta en escena de esta celebración en torno a la imagen.
Tanto Johnson como Acero manifestaron que seguirán trabajando
para en un futuro no lejano anunciar una nueva fecha, cuando se
hayan mejorado las condiciones sanitarias existentes. Ambos
agradecieron en nombre de la Fundación Imagen 83 y el Centro de la
Imagen a los artistas, instituciones culturales/museísticas, invitados
especiales y personas que en estos meses recientes se han
interesado conocer si PHOTOIMAGEN se llevaría a cabo, así como a
todas las empresas patrocinadoras que siempre les han apoyado a lo
largo de los años, desde su creación en el 2006.

The cultural manager and creator of this event, Mayra Johnson, indicated:
“Although the preparations were very advanced, it was necessary
postpone the event, given the uncertain outlook that clings to
our environment and the limitations of social distancing
imposed by Covid-19 ". Johnson was accompanied by Carlos
Acero Ruiz, Artistic Director of PHOTOIMAGEN and the Centro de la
Image, who expressed the following: “It was necessary to take this
decision before the indefinite closure of cultural institutions
