Santo Domingo.-El Ministerio de Cultura (MINC) presentará una interesante y colorida exposición individual de fotografías, alusiva al tradicional carnaval dominicano, bajo el título “Carnavalum’’, en la verja perimetral del Parque Independencia, dentro de la programación de febrero mes del Carnaval de Santo Domingo.
Con esta muestra se da inicio al programa de actividades correspondiente al Desfile Nacional del Carnaval Santo Domingo 2019, a celebrarse el 3 de marzo de este año en la avenida George Washington del Distrito Nacional.
La exposición es de la autoría del reportero gráfico Mariano Hernández, quien la define como una memoria visual de fotografías de carnaval.
Esta conformada por 50 obras en grandes formatos que captan las celebraciones de diversos carnavales en las regiones del país y del Desfile Nacional, desde 1988 hasta el año 2018.
El acto inaugural está pautado para el viernes 8, a las 6:00 de la tarde, con la presencia del ministro de Cultura, arquitecto Eduardo Selman, la viceministra Edilí Pichardo, el director de Carnaval y Reyes Moore, entre otras autoridades de la institución.
En materia de carnaval, dentro de los objetivos del MINC, se destaca que el ministro Selman, desde que asumió el cargo, ha mostrado interés en relanzar el Desfile Nacional de Carnaval de Santo Domingo, que es un recorrido de las comparsas más sobresalientes de los carnavales municipales y regionales, para que se constituya, además de expresión de la diversidad cultural del pueblo dominicano, en un valioso acontecimiento de atracción turística.
En la colorida exposición que se exhibirá al público desde el 8 de febrero hasta el 4 de marzo, a través del Viceministerio de Identidad Cultural y Ciudadanía, en coordinación con la dirección Nacional de Carnaval, se realzará el folclor que simboliza e identifica la diversidad cultural del país.
Entre los títulos de la exposición, el autor citó: El Chino de Bonao, Los chivos de Dajabón, Robala Gallina, de Santiago y su gestor, el fenecido Raudy Torres; Diablo de Bonao, Diablo Metálico, de La Vega; Lechones con banderas, La ventana del carnaval, Entre cintas, Lechones pepineros, Niño de los Pintao y Niños de los Tiznao, El cachúa mayor y dictador.
También, careta de Cachúas, Cachúas Cocodrilo, El diablo negro, Las dimicelas de Cotuí, Una primavera para el mundo, Platanú con bandera, La dama del plátano, El gato y su tribu, El come langosta, africano, Gorila azul, Diablo rojo, Los galleros, Tiznao del bosque, Toro de Montecristi y El calife imperial.
En la selección también se destacan comparsas y personajes pintorescos identificadas como Los Pintaos de Barahona, La Cachúa, de Cabral; Diablos Cojuelos, de Santo Domingo; Los Lechones, Los negros de la Joyas, Los toros y Los Gorilas de Santo Domingo.
Así como los Guloyas, de San Pedro de Macorís; La Cachúa, Los Papeluses, Taimacaros, de Puerto Plata; El Tiznao, de Villa Mella; así como una amplia selección de caretas en múltiples colores.
Además de República Dominicana, la amplia selección de fotografías del carnaval, producida por Hernández, ha sido exhibida en países de Latino América y Europa.
Autor Mariano Hernández
El autor, Mariano Hernández, nació en Jimaní, el 30 de abril del año 1954, y desde muy temprana edad residió en Puerto Plata. Realizó estudios de arquitectura en la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (1971-1976) y concluyó en la Universidad Central del Este, en 1983.
Es miembro fundador de FOTOGRUPO, entidad que agrupada a una representación de aficionados del lente; también forma parte de la “Federación Internacional del Arte Fotográfico (FIAP), y del Colegio Dominicano de Artistas Plásticos (CODAP).
En 1986, fue fotógrafo oficial de los XV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe. En el 1990, se desempeñó como editor fotográfico de los periódicos Listín Diario y Ultima Hora; además, fotógrafo de modelos para la revista Arena, Sol y Aguay y la revista La Moda.
Es coautor -junto a Dagoberto Tejeda- de los libros El carnaval popular dominicano y Los bailes folclóricos en República Dominicana.
En el año 2010, fue reconocido por su destacada contribución a la cultura dominicana, categoría Fotografía, en el marco del Primer Festival Cultural UNIBE 2010, Arte Interactivo.

Santo Domingo.-The Ministry of Culture (MINC) will present an interesting and colorful individual exhibition of photographs, alluding to the traditional Dominican carnival, under the title "Carnavalum", in the perimeter fence of the Independencia Park, within the month of February programming of the Carnival of Santo Domingo. The exhibition is authored by photojournalist Mariano Hernández, who defines it as a visual memory of carnival photographs. Also, mask of Cachúas, Cachúas Crocodile, The black devil, The dimicelas of Cotuí, A spring for the world, Platanú with flag, The lady of the banana, The cat and its tribe, The lobster eats, African, Blue gorilla, Red devil , Los galleros, Tiznao del bosque, Toro de Montecristi and El calife imperial.
The selection also highlights comparsas and picturesque characters identified as Los Pintaos de Barahona, La Cachúa, by Cabral; Diablos Cojuelos, from Santo Domingo; The Piglets, The Blacks of the Jewels, The Bulls and The Gorillas of Santo Domingo.

Author Mariano Hernández
The author, Mariano Hernández, was born in Jimaní, on April 30, 1954, and from an early age he lived in Puerto Plata. He studied architecture at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (1971-1976) and concluded at the Universidad Central del Este, in 1983.
He is a founding member of FOTOGRUPO, entity that grouped to a representation of amateur lens; It is also part of the "International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), and the Dominican College of Plastic Artists (CODAP).
In 1986, he was the official photographer of the XV Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1990, he served as photo editor of the newspapers Listín Diario and Ultima Hora; also, model photographer for the magazine Arena, Sol y Aguay and the magazine La Moda.
He co-authored - together with Dagoberto Tejeda - the books The Dominican Popular Carnival and The Folk Dances in the Dominican Republic.
In 2010, he was recognized for his outstanding contribution to the Dominican culture, Photography category, within the framework of the First UNIBE Cultural Festival 2010, Interactive Art.
