Por séptimo año consecutivo la Fundación de Arte Arawak realizará la séptima edición del Festival de Dibujo 2019, un evento cultural que, por su calidad, tanto en participación como en su presentación, se ha consolidado como el festival de arte más importante del país y el de mayor relevancia en su género en la región del Caribe.
Este evento se realiza con el propósito de darle continuidad a los proyectos de la Fundación Arawak enfocados en consolidar y valorizar el dibujo, fomentar su producción, estimular su coleccionismo y proyectarlo como el medio de expresión artística de mayor riqueza visual.
En esta ocasión, el VII Festival de Dibujo rinde homenaje al renombrado maestro de la pintura nacional Gilberto Hernández Ortega (1924-1979), discípulo de José Gausachs y de Celeste Woss y Gil. Fue profesor de la Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales de 1960 a 1972 e influyó notablemente en la formación y obra de renombrados artistas de la plástica nacional, entre ellos: Iván Tovar, Elsa Núñez, Cándido Bidó, Jose Rincon Mora, José Ramírez Conde, Vicente Pimentel, Rosa Tavarez y Alonso Cuevas. Fue galardonado en varias bienales nacionales y en el Concurso de Arte Eduardo León Jiménes.
“La maestría en los campos del dibujo, la composición, el color-luz y el manejo de la materia; su excepcional dominio de los géneros del retrato y el paisaje, así como su asombrosa capacidad de asimilación, transmutación y síntesis estilística, convierten a Hernández Ortega en uno de los artistas dominicanos más completos de todos los tiempos”.
Durante el evento, los días sábado 12 y domingo 13 los visitantes podrán disfrutar de un programa didáctico de talleres de dibujo impartidos por artistas participantes. Como un aporte a las artes visuales, de forma amena y didáctica, diariamente @fundacionarawak publica en su página de Instagram y Facebook videos con fotos de dibujos y semblanzas de los artistas participantes.
Invitamos al público en general, niños, adolescentes y adultos, a visitar esta magna exhibición de dibujos y a compartir y aprender con los artistas expositores realizando dibujos en vivo en las técnicas del carboncillo, acuarela, tinta, collage y técnica mixta.
El Festival de Dibujo se realizará durante el fin de semana del 11 al 13 de octubre de 11 am a 7 pm, en el local de la Galería de Arte Arawak, ubicado en la calle Polibio Diaz No. 11 del sector Evaristo Morales.
VII Drawing Festival, 2019: Dedicated to Gilberto Hernández Ortega | Arawak Art Foundation
For the seventh consecutive year, the Arawak Art Foundation will hold the seventh edition of the 2019 Drawing Festival, a cultural event that, due to its quality, both in participation and in its presentation, has established itself as the most important art festival in the country and the of greater relevance in its gender in the Caribbean region.
This event is carried out with the purpose of giving continuity to the Arawak Foundation projects focused on consolidating and valuing the drawing, promoting its production, stimulating its collection and projecting it as the means of artistic expression of greater visual richness.
On this occasion, the VII Drawing Festival pays tribute to the renowned master of national painting Gilberto Hernández Ortega (1924-1979), a disciple of José Gausachs and Celeste Woss and Gil. He was a school teacher National Visual Arts from 1960 to 1972 and greatly influenced the training and work of renowned artists of national plastic, including: Iván Tovar, Elsa Núñez, Cándido Bidó, Jose Rincon Mora, José Ramírez Conde, Vicente Pimentel, Rosa Tavarez and Alonso Cuevas He was awarded in several national biennials and in the Eduardo León Jiménes Art Contest.

During the event, on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13, visitors can enjoy a didactic program of drawing workshops taught by participating artists. As a contribution to the visual arts, in an entertaining and Teaching, daily @fundacionarawak publishes videos with pictures of pictures and profiles of the participating artists on its Instagram and Facebook page.
We invite the general public, children, teenagers and adults, to visit this great exhibition of drawings and to share and learn with the exhibiting artists making live drawings in the techniques of charcoal, watercolor, ink, collage and mixed media.
The Drawing Festival will be held during the weekend from October 11 to 13 from 11 am to 7 pm, at the Arawak Art Gallery, located at Polibio Diaz No. 11 in Evaristo Morales.
