El Ministerio de Cultura dio a conocer hoy el listado de las obras seleccionadas para ser exhibidas en la XXX Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales 2023, edición dedicada al consagrado artista Jorge Pineda, cuya inauguración tendrá lugar el próximo 17 de agosto en el Museo de Arte Moderno (MAM).
La ministra de Cultura, Milagros Germán, encabezó la conferencia de prensa junto a los miembros de la Comisión Organizadora y al doctor José Pío Santana, abogado notario que recibió los resultados de la selección en sobre sellado por parte del jurado, integrado por Carlos Sangiovanni, Pilar Lladó y Fermín Ceballos.
Un total de 148 obras fueron escogidas por el jurado seleccionador, de entre las 718 que fueron registradas por los 388 artistas que respondieron a la convocatoria. Para consulta, el listado de las obras está disponible en la página web del Ministerio de Cultura www.cultura.gob.do.
Entre las creaciones seleccionadas figuran 58 pinturas, 6 cerámicas, 3 acciones plásticas, 25 instalaciones, 1 obra de medios mixtos, 3 videos, 1 obra gráfica, 11 esculturas, 17 fotografías y 23 dibujos.
Germán agradeció la masiva participación y el entusiasmo demostrado por los artistas, así como la intensa labor desarrollada por los integrantes del jurado seleccionador, quienes, durante esta primera fase, llevaron a cabo la evaluación de las obras durante más de dos semanas.
La titular de Cultura también resaltó el trabajo de la Comisión Organizadora, “que ha realizado una labor encomiable”.
De igual forma, el viceministro de Creatividad y Formación Artística, Giovanny Cruz, quien preside la Comisión Organizadora, valoró la dedicación y compromiso del jurado seleccionador y felicitó a los artistas cuyas obras fueron escogidas.
Jurado Seleccionador
El jurado seleccionador está compuesto por los siguientes miembros:
Pilar Lladó, artista y coleccionista española que preside el Consejo Internacional de Mecenazgo y la fundación Amigos del Museo Reina Sofía, y es, asimismo, es miembro del Patronato Fundación Museo Reina Sofía, quien señaló que el jurado ha realizado “una labor verdaderamente exhaustiva en la selección de estas obras, que inevitablemente tiene que ser restrictiva”, al tiempo que destacó la calidad de las creaciones presentadas.
De su lado, Fermín Ceballos es un reconocido artista dominicano, especializado en cerámica, aunque también ha trabajado la escultura, el dibujo, las instalaciones y el video, y ha sido galardonado con diversos premios, quien declaró que “asumir la responsabilidad de seleccionar las obras que participarán en la XXX Bienal de Artes Visuales ha sido un honor y un reto”.
El tercer integrante del jurado es Carlos Sangiovanni, artista, educador y creador gráfico dominicano, distinguido con numerosos reconocimientos, cuya labor creativa abarca la cerámica, los textiles, la pintura, el grabado, la serigrafía y la fotografía, el cual indicó que esta es la segunda ocasión que forma parte del jurado de selección de este evento.
‘Nuevas anatomías’
Durante la conferencia de prensa también fue anunciada la apertura de la muestra “Nuevas anatomías”, en homenaje al artista visual Jorge Pineda, que será inaugurada el mismo 17 de agosto en el primer piso del Museo de Arte Moderno, simultáneamente con la exposición de las obras seleccionadas en la XXX Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales 2023.
Dicha muestra, coordinada por Henry Mercedes Vales, incluye dibujos, pinturas e instalaciones que fueron realizadas por el maestro Pineda entre 1990 y 2015.
“Nuevas anatomías” tiene como eje central una pintura homónima de cinco metros de largo, realizada en ambas caras del papel, que ya fue expuesta originalmente en la Bienal Iberoamericana de Lima, exposición que contó con la curaduría de Luis Lama Mansur, crítico y gestor artístico dominicano residente en Perú.
Comisión Organizadora
La Comisión Organizadora de la XXX Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales está integrada por los viceministros de Creatividad y Formación Artística, Giovanny Cruz, y de Patrimonio Cultural, Gamal Michelén; el director del MAM, Federico Fondeur; la directora de la Galería Nacional de Bellas Artes, Marianne de Tolentino, y el presidente del Colegio Dominicano de Artistas Plásticos, José Sejo.
También forman parte de dicha comisión la presidenta de la Asociación Dominicana de Críticos de Arte, Guadalupe Casasnovas; el presidente de la Asociación Dominicana de Galerías de Arte, Juan Julio Bodden Leroux, y el director de la Escuela de Crítica e Historia de Arte de la UASD, Plinio Chahín.
De igual manera, otros miembros de la misma son la curadora del MAM, Ana Agelán Fernández; el coordinador de la Unidad Técnica de Cultura de la Cámara de Diputados, Abil Peralta Agüero; el gestor cultural independiente Salvador Bergés, y María Amalia León, representante del Centro León.
Culture announces a list of selected works for the National Biennial of Visual Arts, 2023

The Ministry of Culture announced today the list of works selected to be exhibited at the XXX National Biennial of Visual Arts 2023, an edition dedicated to the renowned artist Jorge Pineda, whose inauguration will take place on August 17 at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM).
The Minister of Culture, Milagros Germán, led the press conference together with the members of the Organizing Committee and Dr. José Pío Santana, a notary lawyer who received the results of the selection in a sealed envelope from the jury, made up of Carlos Sangiovanni, Pilar Lladó and Fermín Ceballos.
A total of 148 works were chosen by the selection jury, from among the 718 that were registered by the 388 artists who responded to the call. For consultation, the list of works is available on the website of the Ministry of Culture www.cultura.gob.do.

Germán thanked the massive participation and enthusiasm shown by the artists, as well as the intense work carried out by the members of the selection jury, who, during this first phase, carried out the evaluation of the works for more than two weeks.
The head of Culture also highlighted the work of the Organizing Committee, "which has done commendable work."
Similarly, the Vice Minister of Creativity and Artistic Training, Giovanny Cruz, who chairs the Organizing Committee, appreciated the dedication and commitment of the selection jury and congratulated the artists whose works were chosen.
Selection Jury
The selection jury is made up of the following members:
Pilar Lladó, Spanish artist and collector who chairs the International Patronage Council and the Friends of the Reina Sofía Museum Foundation, and is also a member of the Reina Sofía Museum Foundation Board of Trustees, who pointed out that the jury has carried out "truly exhaustive work in the selection of these works, which inevitably has to be restrictive", while highlighting the quality of the creations presented.
On his side, Fermín Ceballos is a renowned Dominican artist, specialized in ceramics, although he has also worked in sculpture, drawing, installations and video, and has been awarded various prizes, who declared that "assuming the responsibility of selecting the works that will participate in the XXX Biennial of Visual Arts has been an honor and a challenge".
The third member of the jury is Carlos Sangiovanni, a Dominican artist, educator and graphic creator, distinguished with numerous awards, whose creative work includes ceramics, textiles, painting, engraving, screen printing and photography, who indicated that this is the second time that he is part of the selection jury for this event.
'New Anatomies'
During the press conference, the opening of the exhibition "New Anatomies" was also announced, in homage to the visual artist Jorge Pineda, which will be inaugurated on August 17 on the first floor of the Museum of Modern Art, simultaneously with the exhibition of the selected works at the XXX National Biennial of Visual Arts 2023.
Said exhibition, coordinated by Henry Mercedes Vales, includes drawings, paintings and installations that were made by the master Pineda between 1990 and 2015.
“New Anatomies” has as its central axis a painting of the same name, five meters long, made on both sides of the paper, which was originally exhibited at the Ibero-American Biennial of Lima, an exhibition curated by Luis Lama Mansur, critic and Dominican artistic manager living in Peru.
Organizing Commission
The Organizing Commission of the XXX National Biennial of Visual Arts is made up of the Vice Ministers of Creativity and Artistic Training, Giovanny Cruz, and of Cultural Heritage, Gamal Michelén; the director of the MAM, Federico Fondeur; the director of the National Gallery of Fine Arts, Marianne de Tolentino, and the president of the Dominican College of Plastic Artists, José Sejo.
Also part of said commission are the president of the Dominican Association of Art Critics, Guadalupe Casasnovas; the president of the Dominican Association of Art Galleries, Juan Julio Bodden Leroux, and the director of the UASD School of Art Criticism and History, Plinio Chahín.
In the same way, other members of the same are the curator of the MAM, Ana Agelán Fernández; the coordinator of the Technical Unit for Culture of the Chamber of Deputies, Abil Peralta Agüero; the independent cultural manager Salvador Bergés, and María Amalia León, representative of the León Center.
