La Fundación Iván Tovar presentó en el Museo de las Casas Reales una exhibición de bocetos inéditos del artista Iván Tovar que corresponden a estudios preparatorios para el desarrollo de la obra pictórica y escultórica del artista.
La muestra estará abierta al público del 28 de marzo al 6 de junio, en el Museo de las Casas Reales en horario de 10 de la mañana a 6 de la tarde, de martes a domingo.
La exposición se realizó en el marco de la celebración de los 80 años del nacimiento del artista, y el público podrá admirar las obras que se exhiben por primera vez en el país.
Iván Tovar es el artista visual dominicano de mayor renombre y trayectoria internacional, así como también el más cotizado en los mercados de subastas y es considerado como un maestro del Surrealismo.
El acto de apertura se inició con las palabras de la Directora del Museo De Las Casas Reales, Elizabeth Hazím.
La presidenta de la Fundación Iván Tovar, Daniela Tovar Castillo, hija del artista, destacó la trascendencia de la obra artística de su padre y dijo que las exhibiciones de los bocetos inéditos incluidos en la muestra tienen un gran valor para el conocimiento de la obra del pintor.
En el acto también habló el Comisario de la Exposición, Yuri Ruiz Villalona, quien presentó un esbozo de la muestra de manera cronológica.
Al final del acto protocolar de apertura se realizó un brindis recordando el 80 cumpleaños de Iván Tovar.
La exposición cuenta con los auspicios del Ministerio de Cultura, Ministerio de Turismo, Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional, Banreservas, Listín Diario, Kahkow, Banco Popular y Ritmo Social.
Biografía de Iván Tovar
El pintor Iván Tovar nació el 28 de marzo de 1942 en San Francisco de Macorís, República Dominicana y estudió en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de República Dominicana, graduándose en el 1959.
En 1968 recibió su primer galardón como artista, al ganar el segundo lugar en la categoría dibujo del Cuarto Concurso de Arte Eduardo León Jiménez.
En 1963 llega a París, mediante un crédito educativo que recibió, insertándose inmediatamente en los círculos surrealistas de esa ciudad, en la que residió por unos 20 años.
Recibió la distinción más grande que puede recibir un artista de parte del Ministerio de Cultura de la República Dominicana que lo honró con el “Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales 2018”.
Iván Tovar realizó múltiples exposiciones individuales y colectivas nacionales e internacionales y falleció el día 13 de abril de 2020 en la ciudad de Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.

The Iván Tovar Foundation presented at the Museo de las Casas Reales an exhibition of unpublished sketches by the artist Iván Tovar that correspond to preparatory studies for the development of the artist's pictorial and sculptural work.
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 28 to June 6, at the Casas Reales Museum from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
The exhibition was held within the framework of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the artist's birth, and the public will be able to admire the works that are exhibited for the first time in the country.
Iván Tovar is the most renowned Dominican visual artist with international experience, as well as the most valued in auction markets and is considered a master of Surrealism.
The opening act began with the words of the Director of the Museum of the Royal Houses, Elizabeth Hazím.
The president of the Iván Tovar Foundation, Daniela Tovar Castillo, daughter of the artist, highlighted the importance of her father's artistic work and said that the exhibitions of the unpublished sketches included in the exhibition are of great value for the knowledge of the painter's work.
The Exhibition Commissioner, Yuri Ruiz Villalona, also spoke at the event, presenting a chronological outline of the exhibition.
At the end of the opening ceremony, a toast was made to remember Iván Tovar's 80th birthday.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, Mayor of the National District, Banreservas, Listín Diario, Kahkow, Banco Popular and Ritmo Social.
Biography of Ivan Tovar
The painter Iván Tovar was born on March 28, 1942 in San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic and studied at the School of Fine Arts of the Dominican Republic, graduating in 1959.
In 1968 he received his first award as an artist, winning second place in the drawing category of the Fourth Eduardo León Jiménez Art Contest.
In 1963 he arrives in Paris, through an educational loan that he received, immediately inserting himself in the surrealist circles of that city, where he lived for about 20 years.
He received the highest distinction that an artist can receive from the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic, which honored him with the “2018 National Prize for Visual Arts”.
Iván Tovar held multiple national and international individual and collective exhibitions and passed away on April 13, 2020 in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
