Vincularemos las exhibiciones con el calendario académico.Pondremos énfasis en la vinculación de la Escuela con instituciones similares del exterior con la idea de lograr una mayor visibilización de los maestros, profesores, estudiantes y el arte dominicanos con exposiciones, talleres, intercambios y programas de colaboración. Desde el primer momento (16.08.2020), la conformación del gabinete de Gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader, estallaría despertando y multiplicando sus joviales y efusivas adhesiones. Aunque también es cierto que no se hicieron esperar las tristes y paranoicas aversiones. Pero, es un hecho incontrastable que las expectativas del “cambio” y el efecto sorpresa de algunas designaciones con nombres propios, proliferaron a la orden del día como automática y reflectiva ramificación de vasos comunicantes.
Es el ejemplo de la ministra de Cultura, la reconocida escritora y gestora cultural Carmen Heredia Ottenwalder, elección inesperada que deviene en verdadero hito como primera mujer al frente del MINC desde su creación hace justamente dos décadas. Avalada por su exitosa prueba desde la Dirección General de Bellas Artes, el Ballet Clásico Nacional y el TeatroNacional, además de un ejercicio crítico sensible y puntual (teatro, danza y música) en diversos medios de comunicación del país, la designación de Carmen Heredia no ha parado de suscitar anotaciones, cotorreos y suspiros de todo signo.
Precisamente, tanto sus lectores y colaboradores incondicionales como artistas y gestores culturales activos de todo el país, no han escondido su regocijo con la reciente designación de un grupo de profesionales de respetada trayectoria: Elvis Guzmán, director de Educación y Formación Artística Especializada; Iris Pérez Romero, directora de la Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales; Alina Abreu, directora de la Compañía de Ballet Nacional; Indiana Brito, directora del Teatro Rodante; Edmundo Poy, director de la Compañía Nacional de Danza Contemporánea; Pablo Clarke, director del Teatro Orquestal Dominicano y Rosa Horber, directora de la Escuela de Bellas Artes Santo Domingo Este.
En el caso de Iris Pérez, resulta ciertamente fantástico su nombramiento como Directora de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, máxime tratándose de una artista y educadora ligada a dicha institución de manera ininterrumpida durante más de tres décadas, aprendiendo, formándose, enseñando, persistiendo y resistiendo de manera ejemplar al mismo tiempo que ha logrado triunfar con su obra polivalente, tanto en el plano local como en los más exigentes espacios de resonancia del arte contemporáneo a nivel internacional.
Se trata de una artista multidisciplinaria con una obra que trasciende y una educadora de profundas convicciones humanísticas que ha dejado bastante claros los niveles de profundidad con que asume su compromiso con el tiempo humano y la realidad sociocultural que le ha tocado vivir.
De trato afable, vital, entusiasta y comunicativa, Iris Pérez es dueña de una personalidad carismática y atractiva, caracterizada por su asombrosa apertura espiritual y su admirable capacidad de conexión con estudiantes, compañeros creadores, maestros, críticos, curadores, gestores culturales, amantes del arte y personas de todo nivel social.
Sobre este nuevo desafío, responde con su distintiva naturalidad expresiva: “No tengo miedo de dirigir la Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales porque la conozco bien. Yo estoy aquí desde 1986, cuando todavía estaba en el edificio del Palacio de Borgella. Ahora, tenemos mucho trabajo.
Necesitamos mucha unificación, mucha unidad por parte de los profesores, empleados y estudiantes. Necesitamos trabajar en equipo. Ya estamos en eso, incluso ya se está formando un comité de estudiantes comprometidos y determinados a colaborar en equipo” .
Entre sus preocupaciones primordiales, destaca el inicio del año escolar: “Bueno, ya estamos considerando la modalidad, si pudiera ser virtual o semi presencial hasta que podamos volver a la normalidad. Para esto, los profesores que son análogos, deben estar instruidos.
Estamos creando un aula virtual, pero no tenemos los equipos tecnológicos. Necesitamos computadoras, proyectores, pantallas para optimizar la enseñanza aun después de que pase la pandemia del Covid-19” …
Iris Pérez imparte docencia en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales desde 1995. Así que nadie mejor que ella sabe del desfase a nivel pedagógico y estructural que caracteriza a la Academia oficial durante el último medio siglo: “Claro, hay mucho que actualizar.Tenemos que trabajar el pensum y revisar y actualizar el reglamento de formación artística especializada.
Esa actualización de todas las escuelas de bellas artes, forma parte de los lineamientos del Ministerio de Cultura y la Dirección General de Bellas Artes a través del Sistema Nacional de Formación Artística Especializada (SINFAE). Le damos seguimiento” …
EN SÍNTESIS | IRIS PÉREZ Iris Viviana Pérez Romero nace en Santo Domingo el 17 de diciembre de 1967. Es egresada de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes y de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. En la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, realiza una separación de campo (pintura) con Leopoldo Pérez-Lepe (1990-1993) y otra en escultura en metal con Domingo Liz y José Ramon Rotellini (1995-1997).En 1994, en la misma Academia, realiza su primera exposición individual. En 1995, comienza a impartir docencia dentro del programa del Circulo Práctico de Preparatoria (CPP).
En 1998, es nombrada profesora titular. Desde la semana pasada, es la nueva directora de la institución. Entre las áreas que considera de mayor atención, señala la Biblioteca Frank Almánzar, así como el desarrollo de relaciones y proyectos de colaboración con el Centro Nacional de Artesanía (Cenadarte), la Escuela de Bellas Artes Santo Domingo Este y todas las escuelas de bellas artes del interior. Asimismo, señala la urgente necesidad de dotar a la Academia oficial de un laboratorio de diseño gráfico digital con todos los programas actualizados. !
