Le rinde el pésame de honor al extraordinario artista de la plástica dominicana

“A pocos meses de rendirle tributo con la dedicación especial a su obra y figura en la XXX Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales, lamentamos profundamente la partida de Jorge Pineda, destacadisimo exponente de la pintura contemporánea de nuestro país”.
De esta forma dio a conocer el Ministerio de Cultura la partida del artista plástico dominicano Jorge Pineda este jueves.
Considerado uno de los más grandes representantes del arte social,Pineda también se destacó como curador artístico y director de escena.
Nacido en Barahona en 1961, sus primeras exposiciones se remontan a los años 80, plasmando desde entonces su arte enigmático y “perturbador” en galerías y museos nacionales e internacionales.
Su última exposición, “Happy”, permanece abierta al público hasta junio en el Centro León de Santiago, como un homenaje a su obra.
A propósito de esta muestra, el artista le dijo a Listín Diario, en una entrevista para Odette Saldívar, que sus imágenes “son metáforas de una sociedad que se niega a crecer y no asume sus responsabilidades”.

"A few months after paying tribute with the special dedication to his work and his figure in the XXX National Biennial of Visual Arts, we deeply regret the departure of Jorge Pineda, a leading exponent of contemporary painting in our country."
In this way, the Ministry of Culture announced the departure of the Dominican plastic artist Jorge Pineda this Thursday.
Considered one of the greatest representatives of social art, Pineda also stood out as an artistic curator and stage director.
Born in Barahona in 1961, his first exhibitions date back to the 80s, since then capturing his enigmatic and "disturbing" art in national and international galleries and museums.
His latest exhibition, "Happy", remains open to the public until June at the Centro León in Santiago, as a tribute to his work.
Regarding this exhibition, the artist told Listín Diario, in an interview with Odette Saldívar, that his images "are metaphors of a society that refuses to grow and does not assume its responsibilities."
