Los Premios Iberoamericanos de Mecenazgo han recaído en su IX edición en María Amalia León y en el empresario y coleccionista mexicano Antonio del Valle Ruiz.
Presidenta de la Fundación Eduardo León Jimenes y directora general del Centro León, organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro que reflejan fielmente el compromiso de la familia León por contribuir al logro de una mejor nación a través de la educación, las artes y la cultura.
Elegido, también por el jurado, el mecenas mexicano ha sido reconocido por su contribución al enriquecimiento de la escena cultural de Ciudad de México y por su compromiso con la conservación y difusión del arte mexicano y español, siendo uno de los ejes de la colección un importante acervo de artistas exiliados españoles durante la Guerra Civil.
La entrega de Premios se llevará a cabo el día 4 de marzo en el transcurso de una Ceremonia Solemne en la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, una de las instituciones más antiguas de Europa fundada a principios del S XVIII, y será presidida por SM la reina Sofía.
Los Premios Iberoamericanos de Mecenazgo, impulsados por Fundación Callia, tienen como misión reconocer y promover el compromiso de la sociedad con el arte: el Mecenazgo. A lo largo de sus IX ediciones se han convertido en un referente internacional con galardonados como Patty Phelps de Cisneros; Carlos Fizt-James Stuart -Duque de Alba-; Carlos Slim; la Baronesa Carmen Thyssen Bornemisza o Eugenio López.
Según su presidenta, Carmen Reviriego “los premiados al sumarse con generosidad y humildad a la iniciativa, ayudan a que los Premios inspiren con su ejemplo a que otros hombres y mujeres se impliquen con su misma convicción en la conservación, promoción y difusión del patrimonio y el talento artístico”.
Premios Iberoamericanos de Mecenazgo
Cada año los Premios Iberoamericanos de Mecenazgo – una iniciativa filantrópica promovida por Fundación Callia – reconocen la labor de Grandes Personas, con mayúscula, no solo por su labor en la promoción del arte, sino también por sus convicciones éticas y morales, y por la valentía de actuar de acuerdo con las mismas.
Presididos por la reina Sofía, son una iniciativa benéfica a favor del Programa de Conservación y Restauración de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.
Sobre María Amalia León
Preside la Fundación Eduardo León Jimenes y es directora general del Centro León, instituciones que promueven el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de los dominicanos a través de la educación, las artes y la cultura y el respeto al medio ambiente.
Ha desarrollado una carrera activa en el campo de la educación en la República Dominicana, especialmente en las áreas de Literatura y Filosofía. Cofundó y fue directora académica durante 25 años de la Comunidad Educativa Lux Mundi.
Tiene un doctorado en el campo de Filosofía y Lenguaje de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Recibió la distinción doctor honoris causa de la Universidad APEC, en Santo Domingo.
Es miembro del Patronato Fundación Reina Sofía y del Patronato Fundación Amigos Museo del Prado en España, del Comité Latinoamericano de Adquisiciones del museo Tate Modern en el Reino Unido, de la Junta de Asesores del Instituto de Estudios Dominicanos de la City University of New York (CUNY DSI), de la Junta Nacional del Smithsonian Institution, y miembro del Fondo Latinoamericano y del Caribe (LACF) del Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York (MoMA). Ha sido reconocida con la Cruz Oficial de la Orden de Isabel la Católica, conferida en nombre del rey Felipe VI. }
Pertenece al Consejo Nacional de Cultura, entre otros, y desde el año 2021 preside el Voluntariado de Museos de la Ciudad Colonial de Santo Domingo, designada en esta posición honorífica por el Presidente de la República Dominicana.

About María Amalia León
