«Mascarilla» es un proyecto de artes visuales, casi una crónica visual de esta distopía convertida en realidad que es la pandemia.

En el proyecto de exposición un puñado de creadores reflexiona y conceptualización acerca de lo que ha significado este momento histórico que vivimos relacionado con la pandemia del coronavirus. La misma se expondrá a partir de este martes y se mantendrá durante dos meses, en el sitio Arteinformado.com.
«El presente trabajo es una iniciativa del amigo y colega Jhonny Bonnelly, destacado artista visual dominicano de establecida carrera y reconocida trayectoria. Este proyecto expositivo de artes visuales, tiene como eje central el Coronavirus, Covid19, pandemia de múltiples lecturas que azota toda la humanidad en estos momentos» dijo el artista visual Mariojosé Ángeles, a través de una nota de prensa enviada a Nota Clave.
Mariojosé Ángeles, curador y artista de la muestra (Foto servida)Los artistas fueron convocados tomando en consideración los siguientes requisitos: artistas en pleno ejercicio de su profesión, formación, trayectoria, calidad y originalidad de sus obras. El proyecto expositivo comprende 3 partes en su desarrollo, significó.
Primero, un audio visual del proceso creativo de sus trabajos que ha servido para promover, motivar y sensibilizar los espectadores a través de las redes sociales. Segunda parte del proyecto lo será la exposición virtual en las plataformas digitales, y tercero, la exposición en un espacio físico, cuando las condiciones de la pandemia lo permitan.
Asegura Ángeles que los artistas han tenido total libertad de expresión y el medio o la disciplina de su preferencia para hacer sus obras y lo han manifestado en las siguientes disciplinas: pintura, instalaciones, fotografías, dibujo, escultura, vídeo, arte-objeto y performance.
«En esta exposición cada participante ha manifestado según sus propias experiencias el momento histórico que estamos viviendo», dijo. Entre los artistas se encuentra la artista dominicana Mónica Ferreras, establecida en Basilea, quien hace uso de la fotografía y de la instalación como también de un lenguaje directo.
«Al observar mi rutina diaria se me hizo evidente que el jabón y el distanciamiento social pasaron a formar parte de mi cotidianidad como medidas vitales de prevención, y esto a su vez me llevó a reflexionar en asuntos como, por ejemplo, la enfermedad como amenaza de muerte. Es por eso que tomo el jabón y el distanciamiento social como elementos (cada uno poderoso en sí mismo por sus cargas simbólicas) como base conceptual para desarrollar este cuerpo de trabajo, pues más que nunca me quedó clara la idea de tener un cuidado individual para cuidar la colectividad”, aseveró la artista según una nota enviada a NC.
Otro de los artistas dominicanos participante en la colectiva el arquitecto y fotógrafo Fausto Ortiz, expresa que “Al inicio de todo esto nos encontramos en una espera sin final, que nos hizo reflexionar acerca de lo que somos, de lo frágil, de lo inestable que es este mundo que conocemos. Parecemos estar en laberinto que nos lleva a otro ámbito, uno de incertidumbre. En esta serie exploro los ámbitos, condiciones que se hicieron más cotidianas en mi vida que me hicieron sentir desprotegido y agobiado”. La artista dominicana residente en Grecia Yolanda Naranjo, quien ha creado un diario de sus vivencias nos narra su experiencia: “es un diario visual de mis vivencias durante el confinamiento a causa del COVID-19. Una situación que apenas meses atrás me habría parecido una historia fantástica, se convierte en realidad y nos advierte cuán vulnerable somos. Una oportunidad para la inspección, para reflexionar sobre la fragilidad de nuestra condición humana. El mundo se paraliza y nos brinda la oportunidad de revalorar aquello que es realmente importante. Reconocer nuestra capacidad de adaptación, y que la empatía nos guíe para actuar en busca de un bien común». Otra destacada artista dominicana Iris Pérez Romero, ha tenido una vivencia distinta, más poética, y ha creado “Mascarilla en proceso de floración”.
Iris Pérez, una de sus obras (Foto servida)“ La fragilidad de la terracota, en contraste con las esferas de arcilla bizcochadas y esmalte rojo, conforman las técnicas de la pieza “Mascarilla en proceso de floración”. De cada espacio de piel nacen rosas que protegen, crean una distancia y sanan”.
Así se lo dice el artista visual y médico dominicano Rubén Carrasco: “Ojalá que fueran tiempos interesantes” es una paráfrasis a la antigua abominación oriental: un rosetón, formado de máscaras mortuorias, que representan las estadísticas de letalidad de esta viremia mortal; barbijos que cubren parcialmente los rostros moribundos, con expresiones de angustia, de quietud, o de fatalidad, y una figura central, irónica, satírica… ¿Qué celebra?: La muerte… la vida… ¿o la capacidad de reinventarnos y sobreponernos a la crisis?»
Y así de esta manera 18 artistas dominicanos, han dejado su impronta tal como nos dice la reconocida crítica de arte dominicana Marianne de Tolentino: “los artistas realizaron obras que ellos valoran como representativas de su personalidad y oficio, inspiradas por un enemigo invisible y todopoderoso al que se enfrenta con mascarillas –título de la muestra-, guantes, limpieza, distancias… y unos cuantos “placebos”!!! Aquí están, en imágenes…
La exposición– emparentada con otras similares en el mundo, aunque no en Santo Domingo-, despierta mucho más que la curiosidad. Demuestra que, discrepando nosotros de lo que suelen pretender, un tema mueve, fortalece, ilumina el talento: la mayoría de las obras alcanzan un alto nivel creativo, lo técnico siendo aquí secundario. ¡La situación ha producido un arte distinto, y ojalá esta opción positiva perdure “después! “Mascarillas” constituye un testimonio irrefutable en el arte dominicano, contundente, llamativo, original, acorde con una época dramática. Un arte necesariamente militante y comprometido. Sus atractivos intensifican la Vida y rechazan que se la quiten. En una segunda fase, tal vez podamos integrarnos a la realidad física de las obras expuestas, disfrutarlas y tocarlas. Pero… como bien lo expresa Isabel Allende en otro contexto: “Hay que relajarse un poco, tratar de gozar lo que tenemos y vivir en el presente”.

The exhibition project comprises 3 parts in its development, it meant.
First, a visual audio of the creative process of his works that has served to promote, motivate and sensitize viewers through social networks. The second part of the project will be the virtual exhibition on digital platforms, and the third, the exhibition in a physical space, when the conditions of the pandemic allow it.
Angeles assures that artists have had complete freedom of expression and the medium or discipline of their choice to make their works and have manifested it in the following disciplines: painting, installations, photographs, drawing, sculpture, video, art-object and performance .
"In this exhibition each participant has manifested according to their own experiences the historical moment that we are living," she said.
Among the artists is the Dominican artist Mónica Ferreras, established in Basel, who makes use of photography and installation as well as a direct language.
"By observing my daily routine, it became clear to me that soap and social distancing became part of my daily life as vital preventive measures, and this in turn led me to reflect on issues such as illness as a threat of death. That is why I take soap and social distancing as elements (each powerful in itself due to its symbolic burdens) as the conceptual basis for developing this body of work, because the idea of having individual care for take care of the community, ”said the artist according to a note sent to NC.
Another of the Dominican artists participating in the collective, the architect and photographer Fausto Ortiz, expresses that “At the beginning of all this we find ourselves in an endless wait, which made us reflect on what we are, how fragile, and how unstable we are. it is this world that we know. We seem to be in a maze that takes us to another area, one of uncertainty. In this series I explore areas, conditions that became more daily in my life that made me feel unprotected and overwhelmed. "
The Dominican artist residing in Greece Yolanda Naranjo, who has created a diary of her experiences, tells us about her experience: “It is a visual diary of my experiences during confinement because of COVID-19. A situation that just a few months ago would have seemed like a fantastic story, becomes reality and warns us how vulnerable we are. An opportunity for inspection, to reflect on the fragility of our human condition. The world freezes and gives us the opportunity to reassess what is really important. Recognize our ability to adapt, and that empathy guides us to act in search of a common good.
Another prominent Dominican artist, Iris Pérez Romero, has had a different, more poetic experience, and has created “Mask in the process of flowering”.

What does he celebrate ?: Death ... life ... or the ability to reinvent ourselves and overcome the crisis?"
And so in this way 18 Dominican artists have left their mark as the renowned Dominican art critic Marianne de Tolentino tells us: “the artists made works that they value as representative of their personality and profession, inspired by an invisible and almighty enemy who is faced with masks -sample title-, gloves, cleaning, distances ... and a few "placebos" !!! Here they are, in pictures ...
The exhibition - related to other similar ones in the world, although not in Santo Domingo -, arouses much more than curiosity. It shows that, disagreeing with what they usually claim, a theme moves, strengthens, illuminates talent: most of the works reach a high creative level, the technical being secondary here. The situation has produced a different art, and hopefully this positive option will last “later! "Masks" constitutes an irrefutable testimony in Dominican art, forceful, striking, original, in keeping with a dramatic era. A necessarily militant and committed art. Its attractions intensify Life and refuse to take it away. In a second phase, perhaps we can integrate ourselves into the physical reality of the exhibited works, enjoy them and touch them. But ... as Isabel Allende puts it well in another context: "You have to relax a little, try to enjoy what you have and live in the present."
