Celeste Woss y Gil, Jaime Colson y Gilberto Hernández Ortega estarán presentes en la Bienal de Venecia 2024 con obras seleccionadas por el curador Adriano Pedrosa de los fondos del Museo Bellapart.

Adriano Pedrosa, comisario de la 60a exposición internacional de la Bienal de Venecia 2024 - que ha denominado Stranieri Ovunque . Foreigners Everywhere- hizo la selección luego de una visita a las instalaciones del museo a principios del 2023. Se trata de las obras Desnudo de 1948, de Celeste Woss y Gil, Japonesa de 1927 de Jaime Colson y Marchanta de 1976, de Gilberto Hernández Ortega, trabajos que le produjeron muy grata impresión y que corresponden a los criterios museológicos de la muestra que le fuera encomendada, la cual incluirá piezas de los cinco continentes.
La selección de estos maestros de la pintura dominicana para el importante acontecimiento artístico internacional reafirma de la calidad de la obra de estos artistas emblemáticos de la modernidad, su rol en el devenir de la pintura caribeña y latinoamericana y la trascendencia de su legado.
Para Adriano Pedrosa el título Stranieri Ovunque . Foreigners Everywhere tiene un doble significado. Primero, que dondequiera que vayas o estés siempre encontrarás un extranjero. En segundo lugar, que no importa dónde te encuentres, tú eres, realmente, en tu interior, un extranjero. La muestra de 2024 focaliza artistas que son o han sido extranjeros, inmigrantes, expatriados, emigrantes, exiliados o refugiados, especialmente aquellos que han transitado del Sur global al Norte global.
La exposición internacional, que estará localizada en el pabellón central, constará también de un Núcleo histórico con obras del siglo XX procedentes de Latinoamérica, África, el mundo árabe y Asia. Muchas de estas obras se inscriben en el modernismo, término cuyos alcances y significado serán analizados a través de las obras y documentos que se presentan. Las piezas dominicanas formarán parte de ese Núcleo histórico.
Adriano Pedrosa (Brasil) es el primer latinoamericano en comisariar la mayor bienal de arte del mundo. Es el director artístico del Museo de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP). Pedrosa fue comisario adjunto de la 24ª Bienal de São Paulo (1998), comisario responsable de exposiciones y colecciones en el Museu de Arte da Pampulha, Belo Horizonte (2000-2003), co-curador de la 27ª Bienal de São Paulo (2006), comisario de InSite_05 (San Diego Museum of Art, Centro Cultural Tijuana, 2005), director artístico de la 2ª Trienal de San Juan (2009), comisario del 31º Panorama da Arte Brasileira-Mamõyaguara opá mamõ pupé (Museu de Arte Moderna, São Paulo, 2009), co-curador de la 12ª Bienal de Estambul y comisario del pabellón de São Paulo en la 9ª Bienal de Shanghái (2012).
La Bienal de Venecia 2024 estará abierta a los públicos del 20 de abril al 24 de noviembre del presente año.

Celeste Woss y Gil, Jaime Colson and Gilberto Hernández Ortega will be present at the 2024 Venice Biennale with works selected by curator Adriano Pedrosa from the collections of the Bellapart Museum.
Adriano Pedrosa, curator of the 60th international exhibition of the Venice Biennale 2024 - which he has called Stranieri Ovunque. The selection of these masters of Dominican painting for the important international artistic event reaffirms the quality of the work of these emblematic artists of modernity, their role in the future of Caribbean and Latin American painting and the significance of their legacy.
For Adriano Pedrosa the title Stranieri Ovunque. Foreigners Everywhere has a double meaning. First, wherever you go or are you will always find a foreigner. Secondly, that no matter where you are, you are, really, inside, a foreigner. The 2024 exhibition focuses on artists who are or have been foreigners, immigrants, expatriates, emigrants, exiles or refugees, especially those who have transitioned from the global South to the global North.
The international exhibition, which will be located in the central pavilion, will also consist of a Historical Core with works from the 20th century from Latin America, Africa, the Arab world and Asia. Many of these works are part of modernism, a term whose scope and meaning will be analyzed through the works and documents presented. The Dominican pieces will be part of that historical Nucleus.

The 2024 Venice Biennale will be open to the public from April 20 to November 24 of this year.
