Museo de las Casas Reales presenta dos exposiciones que muestran aspectos de la cultura italiana:“Güelfos y gibelinos fugitivos: Dante y Opicino, viajeros de lo fantástico” y “El legado italiano en República Dominicana. Historia, arquitectura, economía y sociedad” son las muestras abiertas al público en el museo ubicado en la Ciudad Colonial.
El Museo de las Casas Reales del Ministerio de Cultura presenta en sus salas dos importantes exposiciones que ofrecen al público la oportunidad de conocer aspectos de la cultura italiana: “Güelfos y gibelinos fugitivos: Dante y Opicino, viajeros de lo fantástico” y “El legado italiano en República Dominicana. Historia, arquitectura, economía y sociedad”.
La muestra “Güelfos y gibelinos fugitivos: Dante y Opicino, viajeros de lo fantástico” es presentada a propósito de cumplirse 700 años de la muerte del insigne poeta Dante Aligheri y en homenaje a la figura de Opicino de Canistris.
Se trata de un proyecto de Gabriele Albanesi, director artístico de la Escuela Cívica de Arte Ar.Vi.Ma (Artes Visuales Marabelli), de Pavía (Italia), en una alianza entre dicha institución, la Embajada de Italia en la República Dominicana, el Ministerio de Cultura de la República Dominicana, el Museo de las Casas Reales de Santo Domingo, el Colegio Cairoli y la Galería Fraccaro de la Universidad de Pavía. La muestra cuenta, además, con el patrocinio del citado municipio.
Entre las contribuciones realizadas a la exhibición se encuentran las de Pierluigi Tozzi, profesor emérito de la Universidad de Pavía; Antonino Ferro, especialista en Psiquiatría y expresidente de la Sociedad Italiana de Psicoanálisis; trabajos de alumnos de la Escuela Ar.Vi.Ma; obras de profesores de la Escuela Ar.Vi.Ma y artistas invitados, así como dibujos de alumnos de la escuela secundaria inferior de S. Genesio, de Pavía.
Estas obras son intervenciones que tienden al maridaje entre el relato visual del “viaje” de Dante (a partir de las ilustraciones de la estructura del infierno, el purgatorio y el paraíso, tal y como fueron transmitidas por la tradición dantesca y por la edición de la Divina comedia) y los mapas de Opicino. El contacto, el “matrimonio”, se ha producido sobre el simbolismo medieval, enriquecido, sin embargo, con total libertad, como es habitual en el discurso artístico contemporáneo.
Por otro lado, el pasado miércoles 30 de junio se inauguró en el citado museo de la Ciudad Colonial la muestra “El legado italiano en República Dominicana. Historia, arquitectura, economía y sociedad”, que es una exposición de las imágenes icónicas del libro del mismo título, recientemente presentado. Dichas imágenes son obra del fotógrafo italiano Andrea Vierucci.
La puesta en circulación de la obra bibliográfica que cede su título a la exposición, que se realizó en días pasados de manera virtual, forma parte de las actividades culturales que la Embajada de Italia ha emprendido en el 2021, en el marco de los 200 años del natalicio del italiano Giovanni Battista Cambiaso, fundador de la Armada Dominicana, héroe nacional de la independencia dominicana y cónsul de Italia.

Museo de las Casas Reales presents two exhibitions that show aspects of Italian culture: “Fugitive Guelphs and Ghibellines: Dante and Opicino, travelers of the fantastic” and “The Italian legacy in the Dominican Republic. History, architecture, economy and society ”are the exhibitions open to the public in the museum located in the Colonial City.
The Museum of the Royal Houses of the Ministry of Culture presents in its rooms two important exhibitions that offer the public the opportunity to learn about aspects of Italian culture: "Fugitive Guelphs and Ghibellines: Dante and Opicino, travelers of the fantastic" and "The legacy Italian in the Dominican Republic. History, architecture, economy and society ”.
The exhibition "Guelphs and Ghibellines fugitives: Dante and Opicino, travelers of the fantastic" is presented on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of the famous poet Dante Aligheri and in homage to the figure of Opicino de Canistris.
It is a project by Gabriele Albanesi, artistic director of the Escuela Cívica de Arte Ar.Vi.Ma (Artes Visuales Marabelli), in Pavia (Italy), in an alliance between said institution, the Italian Embassy in the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic, the Museum of the Royal Houses of Santo Domingo, the Cairoli College and the Fraccaro Gallery of the University of Pavia. The sample also has the sponsorship of the aforementioned municipality.

Genesio, Pavia.
These works are interventions that tend towards a marriage between the visual account of Dante's "journey" (based on illustrations of the structure of hell, purgatory and paradise, as they were transmitted by the Dantean tradition and by the edition of the Divine Comedy) and Opicino's maps. The contact, the "marriage", has been produced on medieval symbolism, enriched, however, with total freedom, as is usual in contemporary artistic discourse.
On the other hand, last Wednesday, June 30, the exhibition “The Italian legacy in the Dominican Republic. History, architecture, economy and society ”, which is an exhibition of the iconic images of the book of the same title, recently presented. These images are the work of the Italian photographer Andrea Vierucci.
The putting into circulation of the bibliographic work that gives its title to the exhibition, which took place in recent days virtually, is part of the cultural activities that the Italian Embassy has undertaken in 2021, within the framework of 200 years the birth of the Italian Giovanni Battista Cambiaso, founder of the Dominican Army, national hero of Dominican independence and consul of Italy.
