El Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales 2020 será otorgado al fotógrafo Polibio Díaz, al escultor José Ramón Rotellini y a los pintores Vicente Pimentel y Antonio Guadalupe.
Estas figuras del arte dominicano fueron escogidas por el comité seleccionador, presidido por la ministra de Cultura Carmen Heredia, como una forma de reconocer su trayectoria y aportes a la cultura y a la sociedad local desde cada una de sus disciplinas.
El premio, que se entrega desde 1993, incluye actualmente la dotación de RD$1,000,000.00 de pesos para cada uno.
Es también un tributo a las personalidades emblemáticas de la plástica a nivel nacional, con una obra que es modelo a las actuales y futuras generaciones de artistas.

El comité seleccionador estuvo conformado, además, por el viceministro de Patrimonio Cultural, Gamal Michelén, Marianne Tolentino, directora de la galería de Bellas Artes; Federico Fondeur, director del Museo de Arte Moderno; Abil Peralta, director de la oficina técnica de cultura de la Cámara de Diputados: Patrick Landry, director de ADCA y Juan Julio Bodden, presidente de AGA. Además, Clinton López en representación del CODAP, Sarah Hermann por el Centro León y Fidel Munning por la dirección de la escuela de arte de la UASD.
Creado en 1993, el premio era entregado a un solo artista, pero desde 2010 se decidió por decreto presidencial que fueran cuatro los beneficiarios en las disciplinas pintura, dibujo, escultura, fotografía, video, grabado e instalaciones.
En ediciones pasadas ha sido entregado a maestros como Darío Suro (1993), Antonio Prats Ventós (1995), Fernando Peña Defilló (2010), Ada Balcácer (2011), Domingo Liz (2012), Ramón Oviedo (2013) y Elsa Núñez (2014), entre otros.

The 2020 National Visual Arts Prize will be awarded to the photographer Polibio Díaz, the sculptor José Ramón Rotellini and the painters Vicente Pimentel and Antonio Guadalupe.
These figures of Dominican art were chosen by the selection committee, chaired by the Minister of Culture Carmen Heredia, as a way to recognize their trajectory and contributions to culture and local society from each of their disciplines.
The award, which has been awarded since 1993, currently includes the endowment of RD $ 1,000,000.00 pesos for each one.
It is also a tribute to the emblematic personalities of plastic at the national level, with a work that is a model for current and future generations of artists.
