En el marco de su 30 aniversario, Lyle O. Reitzel Arte Contemporáneo se honra en presentar Traveling Show to Santo Domingo, exposición individual del consagrado artista cubanoamericano Luis Cruz Azaceta, figura esencial del arte contemporáneo latinoamericano.

La exhibición reúne obras monumentales creadas entre 2008 y 2025, en las que Cruz Azaceta, curada por el artista y el galerista, despliega la fuerza expresiva de su lenguaje pictórico, marcado por la tensión entre la abstracción, la geometría en fuga y el cuerpo fragmentado. Con una paleta intensa y una narrativa visual profundamente humana, el artista aborda temas medulares en su obra: migración, desplazamiento, violencia sistémica, refugio e identidad.

Traveling Show to Santo Domingo ofrece una visión panorámica de su producción más reciente, con piezas de gran formato como In Transit, Refugee 1,001, La Luz del Arcoiris y la obra epónima de la muestra. Juntas conforman un relato visual electrizante que conecta lo personal con lo político, y lo local con lo global.

La exposición llega en un momento clave en la carrera de Azaceta, manteniendo un interés sostenido por su obra, que continúa captando la atención de museos e instituciones claves. En 2024, la National Gallery of Art (Washington D.C.) sumó otras importantes piezas suyas a su colección permanente. Ese mismo año, fue galardonado con el Premio Opus del Ogden Museum of Southern Art del Smithsonian Museum de

Washington DC, reconociendo la relevancia de su trayectoria, su coherencia estética y la potencia de su voz como artista contemporáneo.

Con más de cinco décadas de carrera, y un legado que abarca bienales internacionales, exposiciones en museos y una sólida presencia en colecciones públicas y privadas, Luis Cruz Azaceta consolida con esta exposición una nueva etapa de visibilidad y vigencia.

Como parte de este acontecimiento, la inauguración contará con la distinguida participación de la Dra. Irene Esteves Amador, historiadora del arte y conservadora de bienes culturales, Subdirectora de Exhibiciones y Colecciones del Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, quien ofrecerá una conversación en torno a la obra y trayectoria del artista, aportando una mirada crítica y enriquecedora al diálogo cultural que propone la

muestra.

Traveling Show to Santo Domingo no solo celebra su regreso al Caribe, sino que también se presenta como una cita imperdible para coleccionistas, curadores y amantes del arte contemporáneo que buscan obras con profundidad conceptual, relevancia histórica y proyección internacional.

La exposición estará abierta al público hasta el 15 de noviembre, de lunes a viernes, de 9:30 a. m. a 5:30 p. m.

In the framework of its 30th anniversary, Lyle O. Reitzel Contemporary Art is honored to present Traveling Show to Santo Domingo, a solo exhibition by renowned Cuban-American artist Luis Cruz Azaceta, a pivotal figure in contemporary Latin American art.

The exhibition brings together monumental works created between 2008 and 2025, in which Cruz Azaceta, curated by the artist and the gallery owner, displays the expressive power of his pictorial language, marked by the tension between abstraction, vanishing geometry, and the fragmented body. With an intense palette and a deeply human visual narrative, the artist addresses core themes in his work: migration, displacement, systemic violence, refuge, and identity.

Traveling Show to Santo Domingo offers a panoramic view of his most recent production, with large-format pieces such as In Transit, Refugee 1,001, The Light of the Rainbow, and the eponymous work in the exhibition. Together, they form an electrifying visual narrative that connects the personal with the political, and the local with the global.

The exhibition comes at a key moment in Azaceta's career, maintaining a sustained interest in his work, which continues to capture the attention of key museums and institutions. In 2024, the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.) added other important pieces of his to its permanent collection. That same year, he was awarded the Opus Prize by the Ogden Museum of Southern Art at the Smithsonian Museum in

Washington, D.C., recognizing the relevance of his career, his aesthetic coherence, and the power of his voice as a contemporary artist.

With a career spanning more than five decades, and a legacy that encompasses international biennials, museum exhibitions, and a solid presence in public and private collections, Luis Cruz Azaceta consolidates a new era of visibility and relevance with this exhibition.

As part of this event, the opening will feature the distinguished participation of Dr. Irene Esteves Amador, art historian and curator of cultural assets, Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Collections at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, who will offer a conversation about the artist's work and career, providing a critical and enriching perspective on the cultural dialogue proposed by the exhibition.

Traveling Show to Santo Domingo not only celebrates its return to the Caribbean, but also presents itself as an unmissable event for collectors, curators, and contemporary art lovers seeking works with conceptual depth, historical relevance, and international reach.
