Con motivo de la celebración del 25vo aniversario, el Museo del Dibujo Contemporáneo está presentando desde el mes de abril una exposición retrospectiva de dibujos de su colección en el segundo nivel de la Galería Nacional de Bellas Artes en Santo Domingo.

Esta importante retrospectiva, organizada y producida por la Fundación de Arte Arawak en colaboración con la Galería Nacional de Bellas Artes, la conforman tres ejes expositivos distribuidos en sus diversas salas: en la Cúpula (espacio central) la exposición está estructurada a partir de un recorrido cronológico agrupado por generaciones (de 1940 a 1990), iniciando con dibujos de artistas inmigrantes: José Gausachs, Manolo Pascual y George Hausdorf, así como los primeros maestros del arte moderno dominicano: DaríoSuro, Yoryi Morel y otras generaciones que marcaron una época, definiendo así el panorama histórico del arte en la República Dominicana: Fernando Peña Defilló, Ada Balcácer, Nidia Serra, Marianela Jiménez, Guillo Pérez, Elsa Núñez, Freddy Javier, Luichy Martínez, Silvano Lora, Domingo Liz, Asdrúbal Domínguez, Soucy de Pellerano, Virgilio Méndez, Rosa Tavarez, Dionisio Pichardo, Amable Sterling, Dionisio Blanco, Manuel Montilla, Alonso Cuevas, Aurelio Grisanti, José García Cordero, Justo Susana, Ramón Oviedo, Antonio Guadalupe, Aquiles Azar García, Inés Tolentino, Raúl Recio, José Almonte, Iris Pérez, entre otros.
En una de las Salas laterales, se presenta una selección de dibujos que han sido premiados y/o donados por artistas que participaron en los Salones de Dibujo (1989-2007): Vicente Dopico, José Perdomo, Chiqui Mendoza, Jorge Pineda, Gerard Ellis, Bismark Victoria, Fernando De Szyszlo (Perú), Osvaldo Viteri (Ecuador), Philippe Doddard (Haití), Andy Bueso (Puerto Rico), Santiago Cárdenas (Colombia), Iván Valencia, Alfredo Ceibal, Braulio Matos (Panamá).
La exposición cuenta con la valiosa y relevante participación de una selección de dibujos de importantes coleccionistas amantes de este género, que enriquecen notablemente la muestra: Jaime Colon, Gilberto Hernández Ortega, Vicente Pimentel, Iván Tovar, José Vela Zanetti, Alberto Ulloa, Eligio Pichardo, Clara Ledesma, Leopoldo Pérez, Nadal Walcot, José Ramírez Conde, Danilo De los Santos, Mayobanex Vargas, Carlos Goico, Víctor Matos, Fermín Ceballos, Jorge Pineda, así como importantes obras de artistas internacionales: Fernando Botero, Lucia Maya, Sacha Tebo, Pepe Mar, Oscar Caraballo, Heriberto Mora, Philippe Tomarel, Tiga, Walter Iraeta y José Luis Cuevas.
En esta histórica ocasión, el Museo del Dibujo Contemporáneo rinde homenaje a dos artistas emblemáticos y prestigiosos del arte nacional: Domingo Liz y Paul Giudicelli,quienes a lo largo de sus procesos creativos exaltaron el dibujo como una expresión autónoma en su arte. Ambos maestros están representados con una exquisita muestra de dibujos cedidos en calidad de préstamo por el coleccionista Juan Manuel Portela.
El plan museográfico estará enriquecido por fotografías, catálogos y paneles con textos y literatura de apoyo que permitirá historiar el proceso de la trayectoria del Museo del Dibujo Contemporáneo, facilitando así al visitante realizar un recorrido histórico de sus actividades y proyectos.
La exhibición está abierta al público de lunes a sábado y permanecerá en exhibición hasta el mes de julio del presenta año.
MUSEO DEL DIBUJO CONTEMPORÁNEO - MUDIC -
El Museo del Dibujo Contemporáneo fue creado en 1996 por la Fundación de Arte Arawak, con el apoyo y la asesoría técnica del crítico de arte Abil Peralta Agüero y de un grupo de colaboradores e inaugurado en el mes de marzo del mismo año en el Salón Español del Palacio Nacional de Bellas Artes en Santo Domingo. Su propósito fundamental es la de crear conciencia sobre la importancia y contemporaneidad del dibujo, por lo que está trascendental retrospectiva es vital para continuar fortaleciendo el dibujo, así como el trabajo de los artistas en dicha vertiente, y ofrecer al público la oportunidad de apreciarlo y valorarlo en su máxima dimensión.
Es importante destacar que en el año 2019, la Fundación de Arte Arawak, como parte de un programa de colaboración con importantes instituciones culturales del país, puso en marcha el proyecto expositivo HUELLAS DEL DIBUJO: una exposición itinerante de dibujos seleccionados de los fondos del MUDIC, la cual fue presentada en la Sala Yoryi Morel del Centro de la Cultura en la ciudad de Santiago (enero del 2019), Sala Darío Suro en La Casa de la Cultura en la ciudad de La Vega (junio 2019) y Museo Cándido Bidó en la ciudad de Bonao (noviembre 2019-2021).

MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY DRAWING - MUDIC -
