OCA/News Mayo - Junio, 2023 Ansioso por escucharla en vivo porque ya conocíamos varios de sus textos, críticas, y ensayos acerca del arte contemporáneo, hasta llegamos a ilusionar en una ocasión lo interesante que sería invitarla al país para una conferencia o charla sobre el arte contemporáneo –pero no... – Confieso que por lo controversial de su discurso, traer a la mujer de la estrella al país sería una osadía de mi parte, así que, un Tovar maravilloso, y más osado lo hizo por mi…
Llegué al salón de conferencias del MAM, a tiempo, me sentía ansioso por conocer a la expositora. Se trataba de nuestro “Iván Tovar” insigne. Nacional del surrealismo dominicano –un orgullo que aparece en mi semblante lo dice todo– y es que tenemos que admitir que laborar en las áreas de la cultura del arte, en el tiempo, se convierte en algo así como el oxígeno, que nos nutre, produciendo un resplandor que cuando no es arte, es música, teatro, cine, historia, literatura y naturalmente la poesía...
El salón abarrotado de asistentes indicaba que aquello se haría sentir en la memoria. Por fin, logro entrar luego del protocolo de lugar, y me desplazo, allí le explíco a la señora encargada que me asiste, mi necesidad de sentarme en primera fila, ella me responde que tiene una locación especial para mi como oficial de OCA. De repente llegó lo esperado por todos, y con su luz propia. Un aplauso brillante no se hizo esperar, después de otro protocolo. Una noche maravillosa en la voz de “Avelina Lesper”, quien disertaba con propiedad y profesionalismo de manera asertiva con una humildad a flor de piel que se hizo sentir en la audiencia. “Tovar mató a Tovar,” para luego nacer el artista”. Una sonrisa asombrada se asoma en mi mente recordando la poesía…
Cambiando la tonada, un aplauso sostenido a todos aquellos que han hecho posible, con sus manos, dedicación y esfuerzos, el extraordinario evento de las artes y la cultura del país. La XXX Bienal Nacional de Artes Visuales Bravo! Así se construye cultura. “La Bienal es el evento más importante en el arte dominicano desde 1942. I arrived at the MAM conference room on time, I was anxious to meet the speaker. It was our distinguished "Iván Tovar".
