El Voluntariado del Museo de Arte Moderno exhibirá el 19 de Abril la exposición “Tovar Retrospectivo”, la primera exposición sobre la trayectoria del artista, que está considerado como el gran maestro del surrealismo en República Dominicana. La exposición reúne una selección de creaciones realizadas desde 1958 hasta el año 2020.

La exposición será abierta al público el 19 de abril a las 7:00 pm y permanecerá hasta el 29 de junio del 2023 en el tercer nivel del Museo de Arte Moderno.
“Tovar Retrospectivo” es una iniciativa del Voluntariado del Museo de Arte Moderno, en la persona de su presidente, Isaac Rudman, con el auspicio de la Fundación Iván Tovar.
Esas entidades han querido aunar esfuerzos para presentar esta magna muestra retrospectiva del artista Iván Tovar, luego del éxito de la primera exposición inmersiva realizada en el país, denominada “Tovar Surrealismo Vivo”, la cual alcanzó más de 75,000 espectadores durante su exhibición en la Plaza de España de la Ciudad Colonial.
El proyecto curatorial comprende más de 200 obras entre pinturas, esculturas y objetos de arte que devienen en representativos dentro de las etapas evolutivas en la producción visual de Iván Tovar, nacido en San Francisco de Macorís el 28 de marzo de 1942 y fallecido en Santo Domingo el lunes 13 de marzo del 2020). Recorre todas las etapas del artista, desde su formación en la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, su paso por París, Jarabacoa, Santo Domingo y Santiago de Compostela.
Esta iniciativa contribuye a la preservación del legado artístico del maestro Iván Tovar, el más trascendente de los artistas dominicanos, de modo que el público pueda apreciar la evolución formal y estética de sus composiciones, a través de un recorrido por varias etapas sucesivas en su producción visual.
El equipo de montaje de la exposición en curaduría y museografía, está compuesto por Ana Angelán, Orlando Isaac, Raúl Morilla, bajo la dirección artística de María Castillo y la coordinación general de Carol Félix. Simona Cappelli está a cargo de la catalogación de la obra de Tovar y Lillian Carrasco es la responsable de la investigación.
La producción ejecutiva, corresponde a la Fundación Iván Tovar, con la gestión de Héctor José Rizek Sued, Yuri Ruiz Villalona y Daniela Tovar, Presidenta de la misma.
Tovar Retrospectivo está patrocinado por KAH KOW, Radiocentro, Seguros Reservas, International Packers SRL, Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional, con el apoyo de la Dirección General de Museos y el Museo de Arte Moderno.
Este será el tercer gran evento expositivo a cargo de la Fundación Iván Tovar, que el pasado año, además de la inmersiva Tovar Surrealismo Vivo, presentó Bocetos de la Familia en el Museo de las Casas Reales.
La Fundación Iván Tovar nace en el 2021, al año siguiente del fallecimiento del gran maestro surrealista originario de San Francisco de Macorís, que desarrolló una destacada carrera en el mundo de la plástica, en la ciudad de París.
La entidad constituye una organización sin fines de lucro de carácter cultural y educativo, cuyos fines fundacionales están orientados a la población en general y de manera principal para quienes promueven que el aprendizaje y el conocimiento del arte y la cultura, contribuya a mejorar su formación artística, cultural y humana, y en consecuencia a su bienestar general.
La misión de la Fundación es preservar, promover, difundir, proyectar y desarrollar el arte y la cultura de la República Dominicana, y de manera especial la obra y trayectoria del artista dominicano Iván Tovar a nivel nacional e internacional- como instrumento de desarrollo integral que emana del arte y como forma de contribuir, al crecimiento cultural y social de la nación.
